Formlabs Dental and Medit launch partnership

Cooperation between the two industry-leading technologies mitigates challenges in the adoption of digital dentistry.

Formlabs, a leading manufacturer of innovative 3D printers and materials, has partnered with Medit, a global provider of 3D scanners for dentistry. The aim of the collaboration is to make 3D printing accessible to all dental practices directly at the treatment site. Medit Link users can now download the PreForm app from Formlabs. PreForm is Formlabs' software integration that helps prepare dental CAD designs for quick and convenient printing on Formlabs printers. By combining their powerful and intuitive technologies, Formlabs and Medit enable dentists to 3D print dental components faster and more efficiently by simplifying workflow in the dental office.

"Formlabs Dental is expanding access to 3D printing. This requires working with industry leaders like Medit to increase adoption in the dental industry," reports Dávid Lakatos, Chief Product Officer at Formlabs. "Together, we have developed a complete workflow directly at the treatment site next to the patient:s, which solves these challenges and makes the technology more accessible. Our goal is to unlock the benefits of dental 3D printing for both providers and patients."

Medit's intraoral scanners allow dentists to scan their patients' teeth and easily convert those scans into 3D-printed models using a Formlabs Form 3B+ printer. The partnership builds on the success of Formlabs Dental and includes the introduction of digital dentistry with validated workflows, a portfolio of biocompatible materials including resins such as Permanent Crown and Temporary CB, and PreForm software. Dentists can use this new workflow with Medit's industry-leading i500 and i700 intraoral scanners to incorporate 3D printing into their workflows in a reliable and easy-to-integrate way - without the need for extensive training and high costs.

"The integration of Formlabs and Medit combines world-class 3D printers with the fastest intraoral scanner in the industry. This will inevitably lead to great synergies and facilitate access to a complete solution at the point of care," explains Inhaeng Cho, Chief Strategy Officer at Medit.
