3D PRINTSHOW LONDON OPENS WORLD'S FIRST 3D PRINTED POP-UP RESTAURANT

FabLab Maastricht and Michelin chef serve 3D printed meals at 3D Printshow London 2015

3D Printshow London continues to make 3D printing accessible for all by opening the world's first 3D print powered pop-up restaurant at the show. Demonstrating how 3D printing is poised to revolutionise the food preparation market, visitors will witness the creation of personalised 3D printed food dishes, produced by one of London's leading Michelin chefs.

Visitors will learn how 3D printing is changing the rules of gastronomy, both in terms of nutrition, taste and fun. Enabling chefs and food scientists to not only explore new and creative ways to create and present our meals, visitors will also see how 3D printing is expected to greatly streamline the food preparation process and contribute towards healthier lifestyles.

In collaboration with FabLab Maastricht, a Michelin star chef will work live on the 3D Printshow floor, using fresh and seasonal ingredients to deliver taster menus with 3D printed meals to show visitor diners. It will also present a 3D printed chocolate globe boasting an accurate world map filled with a variety of flavour compartments, as well as the opportunity for visitors to attend a half day's International Gastronomy Conference - Press Print to Eat, (Friday 22nd May from 09:30 - 12:30). At the conference, visitors will learn how to use 3D print for the creation of a variety of 3D printed dishes, with access to expert advice and technical knowledge.

Kerry Hogarth, founder of 3D Printshow, "The gastro-revolution continues not only to find new ways to present and prepare our food, but new state-of-the-art ways to create it. From 3D printed chocolate machines for customised party food to micro-engineered nutritional prints, we've been slowly edging towards the synthesis of entire meals.

"Far from being a gimmicky technology, 3D printing within food preparation is expected to make a huge and positive contribution to the industry. This year's show will highlight the best of what's possible today, while showcasing its likely role in the future of professional and home cooking."

3D Printshow London 2015 takes place at The Old Truman Brewery, London, across 21-23rd May.
