AM Factory produces "on demand"

ARBURG is once again set to present innovative practical solutions for the "Digital Factory" at the Hannover Messe from 1 to 4 April 2019. This year's highlight at stand J10 in hall 6 will be the "AM (Additive Manufacturing) Factory".

Industry pioneer in the field of digitalisation
"With more than 30 years of experience in IT-networked production, we are pioneers in our industry in terms of digitalisation and Industry 4.0. "I am convinced that a combination of additive manufacturing, automation and digitalisation offers enormous potential and will make plastics processing companies fit for the future," says Heinz Gaub, Managing Director Technology & Engineering at ARBURG.

AM Factory: Gripper variants based on customer requirements
At Hannover Messe, ARBURG will be demonstrating the production of vacuum grippers for chess pieces. A fully automated and networked turnkey system built around a freeformer 300-3X for industrial additive manufacturing will manufacture 100 percent traceable, individualised gripper variants. There is a separate gripper variant with matching geometry for each piece – queen, king, bishop, knight, rook or pawn.

Complex turnkey system
The central elements of the turnkey system consist of a freeformer 300-3X, a six-axis robot and the Arburg Turnkey Control Module (ATCM) SCADA system, which collects and merges process and quality data. The DM code of the part is used to display relevant manufacturing data on an individual website, such as build time, material, droplet count and build chamber room temperature. In addition, the AM Factory uses a modular and scalable safety controller that ARBURG has developed especially for complex turnkey systems in order to meet the continuously increasing safety requirements.

"Integrated Lightweight Plaza": freeformer for lightweight construction
The areas of lightweight construction and functional integration are also of interest in the context of the ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) process. To showcase this application at Hannover Messe 2019, ARBURG will be displaying the Freeformer 200-3X as part of the "Integrated Lightweight Plaza" special exhibition (hall 5). Manuel Wöhrle, Senior Sales Manager Lightweight at ARBURG, will also give a presentation on innovative lightweight construction processes in additive manufacturing and injection moulding as part of the "Forum Industrial Supply" (hall 4) on 2 April 2019.

Customer portal: Cloud solution for services
ARBURG is continually advancing digitalisation in its business processes and services and will be presenting its new ARBURG customer portal at the Hannover Messe. The new customer portal provides a variety of services in a clear, well coordinated manner via a cloud-based solution. The event will also be an opportunity to highlight the potential of the ARBURG ALS host computer system, a special MES solution for plastics processors.
