From Rail to Aerospace, Stratasys to Showcase Advances in Customized Final Part Production with Additive Manufacturing at TCT Show 2019

Event will see UK premiere of company’s recently launched F120 3D Printer on the Stratasys booth (Hall 3, Stand C50)

Angel Trains and DB ESG keynote at 10am, Tuesday 24th September

From railways to airways to classrooms, the 2019 edition of the annual TCT Show (September 24 – 26, Birmingham NEC) will see Stratasys showcase its latest additive manufacturing solutions for advanced design and manufacturing applications. Stratasys’ stand (Hall 3, Stand C50) will showcase a range of applications throughout the product development cycle whereby customers have witnessed significant time-to-market and cost reductions since integrating the company’s FDM and PolyJet technologies.

Customized Production and Certification

Opening this year’s TCT Summit will be Stratasys’ customers Angel Trains and DB ESG, part of Deutsche Bahn, (Tuesday 24th September, 10:00am). James Brown, Data and Performance Engineer at Angel Trains, and Martin Stevens, Mechanical Engineering Manager, DB ESG, will explore how a recently launched additive manufacturing collaboration with Stratasys has resulted in the first in-service 3D printed parts on the UK’s railways. Visitors will learn how Angel Trains and DB ESG have worked together to test Stratasys’ high-performance production-grade materials and successfully manufactured final train parts certified to Rail Standard EN45545-2 – a prerequisite for the rail industry. Stevens and Brown will reveal how, as a result, this achievement eradicates the need for obsolete inventory, improves the ability to service customers, and reduce costs. On stand, visitors will be able to see these parts for themselves, as well as hear about other key customers in the transportation industry leveraging Stratasys rail-certified materials, such as Bombardier and Siemens Mobility.

Stratasys will also showcase how its certified production-grade materials can be applied to other high-performance industries. A key focal point of the stand will be a full-size business class aircraft cabin, demonstrating the additive manufacturing business case for numerous interior applications compared to traditional production methods. With a focus on customer success stories, such as China Eastern Airlines and Diehl Aviation, visitors will learn how this technology can be used to quickly and cost-effectively create lightweight yet durable 3D printed ducting, or interior cabin parts customized to specific requirements. Stratasys will also demonstrate significant advances made in certifying 3D printed parts for aerospace, including a recently launched public domain database Stratasys developed with the National Center for Advanced Materials Performance (NCAMP), America Makes and the FAA. Additionally, Stratasys’ popular aerospace-grade ULTEM™ 9085 resin material will also be on display, which is enabling both aerospace manufacturers and airlines today to 3D print flight-ready parts with the desired flame, smoke and toxicity (FST) regulations (FAR 25.863) for use on aircraft and overcome stringent certification requirements.

For visitors seeking ultra-realism from their part production, Stratasys' advanced PolyJet technology will be represented on stand, with a number of customer examples and Pantone realism cubes. The Stratasys J750 is the world’s only, full-color, multi-material 3D printer, and recently became the first 3D printing technology to received Pantone Validation. From leather and wood effects, to stitching and transparent surfaces, designers across the world today are using these unique capabilities to innovate their design process and accelerate time-to-market, more effectively than ever before.

A number of Stratasys UK Platinum Partners, including Laser Lines, SYS Systems and Tri Tech 3D, will also be exhibiting at TCT Show. A number of Stratasys’ other machines, including the F123 series, the Fortus line of production systems, as well as the advanced, full-color, multi-material PolyJet 3D printers.

Easy-to-own, industrial-grade 3D printing makes UK premiere at TCT

Making its UK debut, the recently launched F120 3D printer will be running live on stand. The newest member of the F123 Series of FDM printers from Stratasys, the F120 brings true industrial-grade additive manufacturing down to its most competitive price yet, increasing the accessibility of the technology to the next generation of designers, engineers and educators. On stand, Stratasys will run a number of workshops detailing how users can take designs all the way from CAD model to 3D printed model with the F120. For visitors keen to learn more about how they can benefit from easy-to-own industrial additive manufacturing, James Short, Stratasys Technical Consultant, North East EMEA, will discuss how to ‘Stop Treating Additive Manufacturing as a Hobby: Overcoming the Limitations of Low-End 3D Printers’ on the TCT Introducing Stage (A140) at 1:20pm on Tuesday 24th September.

See Stratasys in Hall 3, Stand C50 throughout TCT Show 2019 (September 24 – 26, NEC, Birmingham, UK). Stratasys re-sellers can be seen at the following stands, Tri Tech 3D (Hall 3, Stand A100), Laser Lines (Hall 3, Stand D60), SYS Systems (Hall 3, Stand C40).
