XJet extends product line introducing two versions of the Carmel 1400 at Formnext 2019

On its largest stand to-date (#12.1 C01), XJet Ltd will demonstrate the Carmel 1400M and Carmel 1400C as part of an updated product line at Formnext 2019. The new, dedicated systems are the latest step in XJet’s journey to redefine metal and ceramic AM.

“Formnext is always a highpoint on XJet’s calendar. Each year we hit new milestones, and this is particularly evident at Formnext,” says Dror Danai, XJET CBO. “From Formnext, XJet will offer two systems, the Carmel 1400C devoted to ceramics and the Carmel 1400M dedicated to metals. While both systems use the same NanoParticle Jetting technology, they are different and have been optimized to handle the different materials. Both will be demonstrated on our booth throughout the show.”

As XJet ceramic users are already experiencing, NanoParticle Jetting™ (NPJ) technology enables the manufacture of metal parts that are highly complex, with superfine details, smooth surfaces and pinpoint accuracy – finally making AM’s promise of zero-cost complexity a reality.

XJet will demonstrate a variety of applications illustrating the unique advantages of its NPJ technology for metal and ceramic additive manufacturing. New sample parts will be presented, showcasing the potential to produce parts that were previously impossible to manufacture, addressing thus far unfulfilled industry needs. XJet’s TCT award-winning soluble support material will also on display and visitors can experience this revolution in post processing speed first-hand.

One of the applications the XJet team will present at the show is how researchers at the University of Delaware (UDEL) have developed a new design for a low-cost, lightweight antenna solution that could overcome the challenge of deploying the 5G network affordably. UDEL found XJet NPJ technology to be the only manufacturing process capable of manufacturing the antenna and achieving the complexity, accuracy and smoothness required for the inner channels of the antenna. Not only are the complex geometry requirements met by XJet technology, but XJet zirconia also offers the right material properties such as density, uniformity and dielectric behavior needed for the antenna.

Marvel Medtech has another application in the spotlight at Formnext. The US company developed a robotic intervention guidance system, designed to freeze and destroy the most dangerous tiny breast cancer tumours and prevent them from growing. Medtech is using XJet AM to develop a ceramic cryotherapy probe, a key part of the guidance system, which will work inside an MRI machine so treatment can take place immediately. Again, with a need for highly accurate and complex internal channels – and using ceramic materials so it could be used inside the magnetic field of the MRI system – Medtech turned to XJet for the only capable manufacturing solution.

Formnext visitors are welcome to immerse themselves in the uniqueness of NanoParticle Jetting technology with a virtual reality experience on the XJet stand. Representatives from XJet’s distribution network will also be on the stand.
