Formnext 2019 opened with a very high level of visitor interest, numerous world premieres, a multitude of modern technologies, applications, and materials and many more highlights. From now until 22 November, the world’s premiere exhibition for additive manufacturing and the next generation of industrial production will transform the host city Frankfurt into an international center for innovative production solutions.
With representatives from the architecture, automobile, mechanical engineering, medical technology and sportswear industries, Formnext 2019 showcases an unparalleled variety of industrial applications for additive manufacturing. Prominent international providers of additive production solutions such as 3D Systems, Additive Industries, Addup, Arburg, BigRep, Carbon, Desktop Metal, DMG Mori, Envisiontec, EOS, ExOne, Farsoon, Formlabs, GE Additive, HP, Keyence, Markforged, Materialise, Matsuura, Prodways, Renishaw, Ricoh, Siemens, Sisma, SLM Solutions, Stratasys, Trumpf, Voxeljet and XJet will focus this year on industrial system solutions and show visitors how to scale production and integrate solutions into their existing production environments.
Many younger enterprises will also be demonstrating technical innovations: The German companies Gewo and Metrom, in cooperation with Fraunhofer IWU Chemnitz, will present systems that set new standards when it comes to speed in additive synthetic production, for example. The Austrian startup Incus unveils a metal 3D printer that operates on the basis of photopolymerization and can “print” walls as thin as 0.1 mm. Another Austrian enterprise, Cubicure, will be presenting a flame-resistant plastic for 3D printing that, among its many other applications, can also be used for the interior of public and private vehicles.
Numerous large international corporations as well as young companies will present a variety of innovative materials that make new applications possible in areas ranging from tool-making to medical technology. Visitors to Formnext can also discover exciting innovations all along the process chain, such as the new post-processing possibilities offered by the new VaporFuse technology by Dyemansion. Many companies will also be bringing process monitoring solutions or quality assurance solutions for surfaces to the exhibition.
The American company Sintavia – a pioneer in the additive manufacturing of metal components for industries such as the aviation industry – will be demonstrating the potential offered by the brand new factory it has built in Florida specifically for the purpose of additive metal production. Around 50 American companies are exhibiting at Formnext – an impressive turnout by the official partner country USA. Just one of the many highlights in the USA’s program of supporting events is the second standards forum, which was held successfully on the opening day of the exhibition. The forum brings together international associations and experts in norms and standards with the aim of developing further standardized international documentation to stimulate international collaboration in additive manufacturing.
The Discover3Dprinting seminar, which takes place every day from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., provides newcomers to additive manufacturing with an excellent introduction to the various technologies and the range of exhibits at Formnext.
