Atlantic XL provides EPC and EPCM services to the energy industry supporting offshore and onshore systems, including digitisation, telecommunications, navigation, environmental monitoring and additive manufacturing of metal parts.
Now the company is commissioning its first commercial 3D printer in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Canadian-based company chose SLM Solutions as its supplier and selected an SLM®280 machine.
With more than 20 years of experience in engineering, procurement and construction management of integrated solutions, the company recognised that the industry has never faced a more challenging environment when sourcing materials. Today, the industry faces significant challenges in the supply chain of high-value metal parts. Atlantic XL therefore decided to purchase an SLM®280 from SLM Solutions, its partner in metal-based additive manufacturing. The machine will help reduce the carbon footprint. It also ensures a more efficient supply chain by reducing long lead times and preventing component obsolescence. A digital storage concept instead of physical storage of components also reduces costs.

The SLM®280 is a robust additive manufacturing machine with multi-laser technology and a closed powder cycle. It is ideal for medium to high volume additive manufacturing of metal parts and prototypes. The machine's open architecture allows for free choice of metal powder, open process parameters with print-ready parameters on demand and variable control.
