Stratasys Ltd. (Nasdaq:SSYS), a global leader of 3D printing and additive manufacturing solutions, today announced its latest artist collaboration with 3D design visionary Eyal Gever, to produce real-time simulations of awe-inspiring moments in the natural world, into a new form of 3D printed live art. This is Stratasys' third and final artist collaboration for its 'The Sixth Element' collection on display at EuroMold, 25-28 November, Frankfurt, Germany, Hall 11, Booth FN01.

Gever's 'Sublime Moments' compilation simulates natural occurrences at their pinnacle and converts them into large-scale physical sculptures with 3D printing, translating these moments into art. To achieve the grandeur, Gever teamed up with Stratasys to use the world's largest multi-material 3D Production System, the Objet1000, to 3D print the huge motion-capturing models in precision detail, in a number of different material properties.

Gever explains, "Sublime moments are times that fill a person with amazement, awe, terror, astonishment, or silence, which are caused by bad news, war reports, devastating images of terror, accidents, surprises or nature's elements. These are also often emotional scenarios that can't be interpreted at that time due to the uncontrollable power, unpredictability and fragility at the time.

"In order to bring these pieces to life, I needed a technology that could best replicate each of these moments, while maintaining the emotion attached to them; this why I chose Stratasys 3D printing. The Objet1000 is truly unique as it provides designers unparalleled detail - as seen in PIECE OF OCEAN when capturing waves in motion - but shows no compromise when it comes to producing colossal pieces like COLLISION. This truly is an inspirational technology."

WATERFALL and PIECE OF OCEAN

Both sculptures capture natural phenomenon occurring with water, a waterfall and a piece of ocean, frozen as moments in time and designed to overwhelm the viewer with the same intensity, as if seeing the wonder in real-time. The perception of fluidity was made possible by the exceptional detail that can be simulated with Stratasys' rigid Vero 3D printing materials that are designed to provide dimensional stability, fine-detail modeling, surface smoothness and a variety of translucent shades.

SPHERE POP

This sublime moment encapsulates the powerful and unpredictable emotion of surprise. For this sculpture, Gever chose to produce the physical representation of a balloon bursting, capturing the moment between the mundane and the totally unexpected. To produce this level of breathtaking visualization, the model was 3D printed in ultra-fine detail with the smooth surface area then painted in bold purples for further impact.

COLLISION | TRUCK VS TRUCK

Exploring opposites within moments, this sculpture captures the impossibility of determining the devastating impact of a crash and the static scene after it. Without the wide-format and high-resolution capabilities of the Objet1000, this realization would not have been possible.

"After 10 years of collaboration with Eyal producing 3D printed art, he has challenged us to create our largest 3D printed sculptures yet," explains Naomi Kaempfer, Stratasys Creative Director Art Fashion Design.
