Callaway Golf is breaking the mold by redesigning putter heads with Additive Manufacturing

When a putter strikes a golf ball, it makes a subtle, but distinctive sound. The acoustics can indicate the precision and performance of the club.

When Callaway, the leading manufacturer of golf clubs, decided to upgrade their best-selling putter, the Odyssey, they hit the drawing board and started to experiment with new designs. They soon realized the limitations of traditional manufacturing were hindering their ability to make the best product possible, so they decided to explore additive manufacturing. Since Callaway had no experience with additive technology, they turned to GE Additive’s AddWorks team for help.
Engineers from Callaway and AddWorks collaborated and shared information to create new, innovative putter heads using additive technology, with resounding results.
