3M fights price abuse, fraud and counterfeiting of its products to protect against COVID-19

3M is actively engaged in the fight against price abuse, fraud and counterfeiting of its COVID-19 protection products.

3M is aware of cases where individuals fraudulently impersonate 3M, sell 3M products at greatly inflated prices, sell counterfeit goods as 3M products, and falsely claim to manufacture 3M products.
"3M is committed to protecting the public from counterfeiting and price abuses related to key protection products, including much-needed respirators for the healthcare industry in our region," said Mike Roman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of 3M. "3M will take decisive action against those who attempt to take illegal and unethical advantage of the COVID-19 outbreak. To this end, we are working with law enforcement agencies around the world.
3M is also working with major online retailers to identify counterfeiters and price drivers, remove their offers from websites and report them to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
Fraud prevention resources
If customers have concerns about potentially fraudulent activities, price abuse or counterfeit 3M products, they can report them at www.3MEthics.com.
3M Respirators
3M respirators are needed worldwide in the fight against COVID-19. 3M has doubled its global production of N95 and other filtering respirators since the beginning of the outbreak to over 1.1 billion or nearly 100 million respirators per month.
3M has not changed the prices of its respirators due to the coronavirus. 3M has also been active in ensuring that resellers of 3M respirators do not abuse prices and will continue to do so.
Avoiding counterfeit products
3M recommends that you buy its products only from authorized 3M distributors or dealers, as this provides the greatest assurance of receiving genuine 3M products.
To avoid counterfeit products, users should only purchase respirators in 3M packaging and with model-specific instructions for use that accompany the product. 3M respirators should not be sold individually or without packaging and instructions for use. Products with missing straps, a strange smell, blocked valves or incorrect labeling are most likely not genuine 3M respirators.
Checking the authenticity of 3M documents
To verify the authenticity of 3M offers or documents is recommended:
- Check the authenticity of offers and invoices for which prepayment is required.
- Check that 3M's trade name, domain name, address details, telephone number and email address are correct and free of errors.
- Check the bank details (e.g. country, beneficiary) stated on the offer (invoice).
