The EXT 220 MED is the new name for the Kumovis R1 as part of our growing extrusion printing class of printers. This platform is a game-changer in medical device manufacturing, enabling 3D printing of implants and instruments using high performance polymers such as PEEK and Radel® PPSU. Now, thanks to the ingenuity of our engineering teams, we are excited to announce a performance upgrade to allow up to 30% faster throughput.
The EXT 220 MED allows manufacturers and hospitals to 3D print implants with PEEK like this cranial plate. The biocompatible material offers several advantages such as customized shapes and sizes for better fit and comfort, potential to reduce surgical time and cost as well as increased durability and strength.
The platform can also 3D print using Radel PPSU. This medical-grade material is ideal for instruments such as trial implant spacers for spinal fusion surgeries. These instruments can absorb high impact without breaking and can withstand repetitive exposure to high temperatures during hot steam sterilization processes.
