A two-year initiative involving 10 public 'events' focusing on emotion, health, cities, nature, consumption, mobility, energy, water, heritage and the future.

The company aims to encourage action by demonstrating how the experiences of virtual twins empower people to create sustainable innovations that lead to a better future.
- Virtual worlds link a useful and sustainable imagination, to harmonize product, nature and life.

Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) announces the launch of 'The Only Progress is Human', a global initiative to raise awareness of the social and environmental challenges we face today, as well as to inspire people to use the virtual world to imagine sustainable innovations that create a better future.
Over a two-year period, the company will engage with the public through 10 'Events' that focus on some of the most pressing issues facing humanity in areas such as health, cities, energy and water. These actions will illustrate how virtual twin experiences empower people to address challenges ranging from "How can we better control our health in the future" to "How can we protect our most precious resource". They will also drive progress by reinventing the future, as the way products are designed and manufactured will change and create human-centered and real-world experiences.
The first Act, focused on emotion and challenge - "How can virtual worlds change the way we experience emotions" - will serve to show how the virtual world can involve both the intellect and the emotions, making it a powerful facilitator of positive action. A unique musical and visual experience called 'Virtual Harmony' has been conducted with the 3Dvarius, the first fully 3D printed violin that can be played. It is designed with Dassault Systèmes' solutions and is a call to action for students to create the next generation of musical instruments.
"The greatest value of virtual worlds lies in the potential they offer for imagining a better future and understanding the social and environmental impacts of each design decision. The virtual will be the vital link between imagination, utility and sustainability to create harmony between product, nature and life," said Bernard Charlès, Vice President and CEO of Dassault Systèmes. "The company's vision is to lead a global transformation towards an era of real sustainable innovation, where people are at the forefront. We decided to make our vision a reality through 10 actions that will challenge perceptions and lead to action. We want to reveal, celebrate and empower the incredible potential that humans have for innovation when they work together.
The virtual twins created with Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform and its applications have already helped industry promote new medical treatments, improve service delivery in cities and design a pollution-absorbing sculpture. They open up new possibilities for discovery by allowing people to design, simulate, test, understand and experience solutions in the context of their use, before they are physically created.
