Frost & Sullivan: Connectivity and Convergence Will Transform How We Work in the Future

Frost & Sullivan hosts Growth, Innovation & Leadership (GIL) Malaysia 2014 in Iskandar

Frost & Sullivan holds its Growth, Innovation & Leadership (GIL) Congress across eighteen cities annually. It is regarded as a platform for sharing innovative ideas, engaging in discussions and strategizing to solve some of the key challenges affecting this region. This year, GIL Malaysia is being held at Traders Hotel, Puteri Harbour, Johor. This is the first time since the launch of GIL Malaysia that this event is happening out of the Malaysian capital.

Hazmi Yusof, Country Head for Frost & Sullivan Malaysia believes that "Iskandar is the ideal location to discuss the topic innovation as it embodies the changing business landscape in Malaysia." He elaborated on "the critical role that Frost & Sullivan has played in developing the business environment in Iskandar, especially through the establishment of its Global Innovation Centre there."

This year, the theme of 'Connected Living' will be discussed in detail throughout the congress. This will be an extension of Frost & Sullivan's recent focus on the integration of smart technology across various industries and countries. According to Frost & Sullivan forecasts, the connected living and smart city applications are expected to reach upwards of a trillion dollars by 2020.

Manoj Menon, Senior Partner & Managing Director for Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific is a strong proponent of the importance of the impact of connectivity and convergence. His presentation of Mega Trends - Connected Living states that "the rapid proliferation of connected devices and services will produce innovative applications that enable seamless and ubiquitous connectivity across homes, work and the city." He added that, "Iskandar has all the elements to be a fantastic test bed for connected living solutions."

Highlights of the event include a Visionary Innovation think tank, a panel discussion with key stakeholders in the development of Iskandar and a series of presentations from Malaysia's top CEO's. A special session, 'Legends of Asia,' will provide a platform for industry leaders to discuss the opportunities that should be leveraged for the development of Asia-Pacific.

The evening will close with the 10th Annual Malaysia Excellence Awards. These awards will recognize Malaysian companies that have demonstrated outstanding performance through leadership, technological innovation and other initiatives in their field in the last year.
