In partnership with Accenture, General Motors, Whirlpool, and the United by Vaccine movement, Dow acquired ultrafreezers capable of storing 11.7 million doses of vaccines against Covid-19

In partnership with Accenture, General Motors (GM), Whirlpool, and the movement United by Vaccine, Dow acquired 60 Ultrafreezers that could store 11,7 million doses of vaccines against Covid-19, speeding up the process of immunization of the Brazilian population.

Ultrafreezers will be donated to public institutions in 28 locations throughout 26 Brazilian states and the Federal District. These Ultrafreezers will make it possible to store a greater quantity of vaccines, accelerating the administration, as well as facilitating the logistics of distribution of vaccines within the states.

“We are very proud to be part of this movement. As a science company, we believe that vaccination is a concrete way of being able to face this pandemic, collectively protecting the population. Being able to contribute to this initiative will undoubtedly help preserve many lives,” said Javier Constante, president of Dow in Brazil and Latin America.

The initiative is part of the efforts that the Company has undertaken to help the communities where it is present and the global society facing the Covid-19 pandemic. The beneficiary institutions should receive Ultrafreezers in the coming weeks and they will take action to help expand vaccination.

Dow’s commitment to combat covid-19
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Dow has mobilized globally to contribute to combating the impacts of Covid-19 on the population, whether with products, partnering with customers, allocating resources from the Dow Foundation or pursuing resources from its Corporate Citizenship initiatives to address critical needs, such as food insecurity.

Among the actions are the readjustment of the Hortolândia plant for the production of 25 tons of gel alcohol that have been donated to more than 200 public health units, donation of products to formulate mattresses to field hospitals in Bahia Blanca, donation of food vouchers to more than 500 families working in Dow partner recycling cooperatives, donations of basic needs baskets to more than 2,700 families, acquisition of rapid tests, disposable masks, respirators, hospital beds and secretion vacuum cleaners, support programs for families in situations of vulnerability in mental health issues, among others.
