Dr. Bruce Kahn, Chris Travis, Michael Van Haren, and Patrick Younk to Keynote 67th TAGA Conference

Print professionals, scientists, and researchers will be among the industry's brightest minds gathered at the 67th Annual Conference of the Technical Association of the Graphic Arts (TAGA), March 22–25, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Attendees of the conference will come together from around the world to discuss industry innovations and present papers on research and development activities.

The TAGA conference features technical and scientific papers on research straight from the laboratory, studies from the pressroom, and developments in software and engineering systems. This conference focuses not only on graphic arts systems, software, and computer technology developments, but also on the more traditional areas of press, ink, and paper engineering applications.

The keynote speakers will be delving into a range of emerging technologies:

Dr. Bruce Kahn, Adjunct Professor of Graphic Communications and Printed Electronics Advisor, Clemson University
Printed Electronics: Opportunity, Challenge, or Hype?

Printed Electronics have been touted for many years for its tremendous opportunities; which include large markets, mass production, large area devices, and even the salvation of the printing industry. But like most new and emerging technologies, the reality is usually quite different. The big killer App for Printed Electronics is right around the corner. Or is it?

Chris Travis, Director of Technology, KBA
Ink on Substrate—New Printing Processes and Applications that Can Expand the Positioning of Today's Printer

Graphic communications companies are successfully looking toward new revenue streams, while many have moved to offering ancillary services, producing new ink on substrate products via various printing processes such as screen, flexographic, lithographic and digital. All can yield additional revenue streams, greater customer retention, and enhanced profits. This presentation will cover how traditional printers can expand their portfolio while utilizing existing internal knowledge and processes.

Michael Van Haren, Manager of Postal Solutions Sales, Quad/Graphics
Using Data and a Print-Centric Strategy to Manage Omni-Channel Marketing

Successful marketers communicate to their audience in a mix of media channels. Using customer data, as well as mail delivery data, print can be the driver of timely, targeted, and relevant omni-channel messaging that will help retain and grow market share. Understanding what data matters and knowing the best way to leverage it can lead to new opportunities to engage and connect on a more intimate level.

Patrick Younk, Directors Fellow, Los Alamos National Laboratory
Scientific and Technology Innovations for a Secure Country

Los Alamos National Laboratory in northern New Mexico is one of the largest science and technology institutions in the world, conducting multidisciplinary research in such fields as national security, space exploration, renewable energy, nanotechnology, and supercomputing. A former printing engineer turned physicist will highlight some of the remarkable research activity under way.
