Epson celebrates its 80th anniversary

Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724, "Epson") is celebrating its 80th anniversary. To mark this anniversary, the company is opening the "Epson Museum Suwa" at its Japanese headquarters in Suwa, Nagano, Japan. The museum consists of a Monozukuri Museum and a Memorial Hall. It gives visitors an insight into the history and products of eighty years of Epson. The Memorial Hall is located in the original administration building, built in the 1940s. This recently renovated historic building will be open to the public from today.

The exhibits in Memorial Hall cover the period up to the 1970s, the period when the building was actually in use. From the technology and capabilities inherent in mechanical watches, to the world's first quartz clock, to the EP-101 electronic printer from which the Epson brand name is derived, visitors will get a look back at the efficient, compact and precise technologies Epson has developed since its inception.
Visitors to the "Epson Museum Suwa" can visit both the Monozukuri Museum and the Memorial Hall. In addition, an 80th anniversary website will be launched, tracing the company's philosophy and history since its founding and inviting visitors to take a journey through time.
Daiwa Kogyo, Ltd, Epson's predecessor company, was founded in May 1942.
