BigRep GmbH acquires HAGE3D GmbH to strengthen its leadership in large-format, open additive manufacturing

As a high-quality, open AM platform provider, HAGE3D ideally complements the BigRep portfolio towards becoming a full-solution provider also for high-temperature applications. The acquisition is founded on extensive technological synergies on the one hand, and strategically expanded market reach on the other.

BigRep focuses on large-scale Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) as the most widely used and versatile 3D printing technology and strives to further accelerate its growth path advancing data-driven innova on and delivering excep onal customer experiences.
BigRep GmbH (“BigRep”), a leader in large‐format extrusion‐ based addi ve manufacturing (AM) solu ons, acquires HAGE3D GmbH (“HAGE3D”) and thus strengthens its prominent posi on in the industrial, open AM sector. Through this partnership, BigRep will realize far‐reaching synergies by o ering a full spectrum of low‐to‐high‐temperature AM solu ons and by expanding its global presence, extensive reseller network, and scalable supply chain. With a combined installed base of more than 1,000 large‐scale 3D printers in all relevant industrial sectors, BigRep and HAGE3D are perfectly posi oned to become one of the leading open AM suppliers. Both par es have agreed not to disclose the detailed deal terms.
BigRep and HAGE3D together o er a superior por olio of industrial 3D printers with up to one cubic meter build volume handling the full range of standard, technical, and high‐performance thermoplas c materials in low‐, mid‐ and high‐temperature build chambers. As part of BigRep’s fully integrated AM business model comprising reliable Made‐in‐Germany hardware, intui ve produc vity so ware, quali ed and quality‐controlled laments, and value‐adding support, training, and services, HAGE3D products are expected to quickly nd worldwide customer acceptance. Both par es will con nue their collabora ve path to make the produc on of complex, large‐format func onal parts with intelligent FFF technology the mainstream choice for manufacturers.
Dr.‐Ing. Sven Thate, Managing Director of BigRep GmbH, comments: “We are excited about the merger with HAGE3D. For our worldwide customers this makes us their local provider of open industrial AM solu ons across all temperature levels unlocking almost limitless material op ons. We expect the AM market to con nue its dynamic growth for the foreseeable future, driven by strong megatrends such as digitaliza on and decentraliza on of manufacturing. We will capture this opportunity with HAGE3D, who ideally complement our team and por olio of open AM solu ons with its high‐temperature FFF pla orms. Together, with similar mindsets of customer centric, data‐ driven innova on, we plan to form a European leader pushing the limits of what is possible with FFF.”
Thomas Janics, Managing Director of HAGE3D, says: “With BigRep we have found a perfect partner to accelerate the a rac ve global growth opportuni es in the industrial AM sector. While our focus was previously on the German‐speaking markets, we now can provide our products globally through BigRep ́s sales network, adding Graz to map of technology centers next to BigRep’s in Berlin, Boston, Shanghai, and Singapore. Complemen ng its current low‐temperature and energy‐conscious large‐ format AM pla orms, we will expand BigRep ́s por olio with a range of high‐temperature 3D printers that open a broad spectrum of new applica ons and markets. It’s a win‐win in R&D, produc on, and sales. Therefore, we jointly look forward to an innova ve, unique, and successful future together.”
