TotalEnergies Lubrifiants acquires low VOC (Volatil Organic Compounds) - emission hydraulic fluid product lines

Acquisition of fire-resistant hydraulic fluids from Fluid Competence business extends TotalEnergies’s portfolio of mineral oil free fluids.

These product lines are classified as HFA under ISO 12922 and HFC-E.
This acquisition aligns with TotalEnergies's goal of offering safer and sustainable products.

TotalEnergies Lubrifiants has acquired fire-resistant hydraulic fluid products lines from German niche manufacturer Fluid Competence. The deal supports TotalEnergies’s sustainability goals by extending its product portfolio with a mineral oil free and low VOC-emissions fluid that provides high performance for safety-critical applications in steel, mining and tunnelling.

The agreement covers the Corsave (water based) and Lubesave (water glycol based) hydrous fire-resistant fluid. This makes it one of the few fluids in the high-quality HFA-group and HFC-E-group category respectively.

Rainer Keiemburg, Vice President for Industrial Lubricants at TotalEnergies Lubrifiants, said: “Bringing Fluid Competence’s HFC-E (since end 2023) and now adding HFA business on board is an exciting step in our strategy to grow our range of specialty fluids and offer customers safer and sustainable solutions. Fluids are already available and set to be popular for customers that need ultimate safety and reliability when operating hydraulic systems at high temperatures and high pressures in tough environments.”

The fluids’ primary advantage is its fire resistance specifications which ensure safety of frontline workers as well as process continuity.

The fluid offers exceptional anti-wear performance and good corrosion protection. Together, these properties enhance equipment's availability and reduce maintenance costs.

Dieter Mantwill, CEO of Fluid Competence, said: "Working with TotalEnergies Lubrifiants allows us to expand our global customer reach while continuing to innovate and certify high-performances lubricants."

TotalEnergies Lubrifiants’ acquisition of these product lines strengthens its commitment to sustainable and innovative solutions. By integrating the HFC-E and HFA fluids, TotalEnergies broadens its portfolio of safer and sustainable products while enhancing operational safety and performance in critical sectors. This approach aligns with the Company's strategy to reduce its carbon footprint and promote safer and sustainable products.
