Sophie Borgne is Engineer Powerwoman 2020

The award ceremony took place on July 14 as part of the HANNOVER MESSE Digital Days

This year, Sophie Borgne was named Engineer Powerwoman as part of the WomenPower during the HANNOVER MESSE Digital Days. The prize, which is endowed with 5,000 euros, was taken in a virtual session after laudations by Elke Büdenbender, patron of the Klischeefrei initiative, and Prof. Barbara Schwarze, chairwoman of the board at the Competence Center Technology Diversity Equal Opportunities V., contrary. The prize is usually awarded during the opening of the WomenPower career conference. Since this could not be organized as part of the HANNOVER MESSE due to the corona pandemic, the award was moved to the digital event of the fair. With the Engineer Powerwoman 2020 award, Deutsche Messe is honoring for the eighth time a pioneer in the field of MINT, who through her commitment, her ideas and her work sets innovative accents in the technical environment of her company.

Sophie Borgne is Senior Vice President Digital Plant Business at Schneider Electric. The focus of her work is on the Internet of Things and the associated optimization of traditional industrial automation. Since joining Schneider Electric in 2001, Sophie Borgne has been involved internationally in Africa, China, France and Italy and led teams in various functions. She regularly gives lectures and shares her expertise in Industry 4.0. In addition, Sophie Borgne is part of the Schneider Women in Tech network as an ambassador. The goal is to break through gender stereotypes and inspire young girls to pursue a career in technology, true to their motto: "Don't set limits and do what you want to do."

A total of three experts were nominated as finalists for the Engineer Powerwoman Award by an independent jury consisting of the members of the WomenPower congress advisory board.
