Eiji Kakiuchi, Chairman of the Board and Representative Director of SCREEN Holdings Corporation, was recently awarded the 2022 Kyoto Industrial Merit Award by the Kyoto Prefectural Government.
The Kyoto Industrial Merit Award system has been in place since 1981 to honour people who have made a significant contribution to the development of Kyoto Prefecture's industries through the management of commercial and industrial organisations or business activities. At the award ceremony, the Governor of Kyoto Prefecture, Takatoshi Nishiwaki, presented Kakiuchi with a certificate of commendation and praised his achievements.
Kakiuchi joined Dainippon Screen Mfg Co (now Screen Holdings Co Ltd) in 1981, where he served as President of Dainippon Screen Graphics (USA), LLC and President of the Semiconductor Equipment Company before being appointed President and Representative Director in 2014. He expanded the company's business in the electronics industry sector and grew it into a manufacturing equipment manufacturer with a number of world-leading products.In 2014, he was appointed Representative Director and President, and from 2019 he is Representative Director and Chairman of the Board.
As for activities related to industry, he was appointed secretary of the Kyoto Association of Corporate Executives in 2015, a permanent member of the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2018, chairman of its Electricity, Machinery and Metal Division in 2019, vice-president of the Kyoto Industrial Association in the same year, vice-president of the Kyoto Employers' Association in 2019, and chairman of the Japan Chairman of the Kyoto General Directorate of the Association for the Promotion of International Trade, all in office, while supporting and revitalising local industry by providing support to start-ups in Kyoto Prefecture and participating in the Council for the Promotion of Japan's Best Childcare Environment.
