Martin Baumann: new CEO at Arburg USA

• Martin Baumann to succeed Friedrich Kanz

• New CEO set to take up office on 1 June 2023
• The USA is one of the most important sales markets for Arburg worldwide

Martin Baumann has been named as the new Managing Director of Arburg Inc. in Rocky Hill, USA. He will assume office on 1 June, succeeding Friedrich Kanz who is handing over the reins of the U.S. subsidiary on 30 June, 2023 to enter retirement after more than 23 years with the company.
Established in 1990, Arburg Inc. has been based in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, since 2015. Due to the magnitude and importance of the U.S. market – North America being Arburg’s largest foreign market – the company has three locations. The headquarters in the East are being joined by the Technology Centers in Elgin, Illinois, and Irvine, California, which serve our customers in the Midwest and on the West Coast. In total, Arburg has more than 100 people working towards its success in North America.
Martin Baumann: plastics expert with profound experience
Martin Baumann is the ideal choice as Managing Director of the Arburg subsidiary in the USA for two reasons: he possesses in-depth knowledge of the plastics sector, as well as several years of management, sales and project experience for various companies in the United States.
Baumann completed his academic qualifications at the Aalen University of Applied Sciences – Engineering and Economics – in 1991, achieving a Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Technology, followed by an MBA in International Marketing at the Export Academy in Reutlingen in 1993.
Most recently, Martin Baumann was engaged for almost four years as Vice President and General Manager at MAAG Group Americas in Eagle Rock, Virginia, a manufacturer of gear pumps, granulation and filtration systems, and powder mills.
He describes himself as a "business and general manager with a focus on developing and implementing growth strategies for complex industrial products in the B2B environment." Starting in June this year, Baumann will undergo an intensive familiarization program in the U.S. in close cooperation with the headquarters in Lossburg to prepare him for his new challenges. “I feel greatly honoured to be part of the Arburg family and I look forward to making my contribution towards ensuring that our customers can produce their plastic parts efficiently, the key to commercial success, with our high-end technology”, states Martin Baumann.
A huge thank you to Friedrich Kanz
Some 23 years ago, Friedrich Kanz set up the Arburg subsidiary in the USA and progressively transformed it into one of the company’s most important and biggest support bases worldwide – with great success. Over the years, he moved Arburg and its products closer to customers by opening Arburg Technology Centers (ATC) in Illinois and California, purposefully expanded service capabilities in the U.S. and Canada. He was also instrumental in planning, implementing and expanding the subsidiary’s premises in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, which became home to the company in 2015. Over 13,000 Allrounder injection moulding machines installed in the USA, Canada and the Mexican border region are testimony to the North American market’s huge importance for Arburg. During his many years of service to the company, Friedrich Kanz and his team played a key role in this development and for this, Arburg owes him a great debt of gratitude.
