UL Consumer Products Hires Textiles and Apparel Subject Matter Expert M. Saeed Sheikh

Appointment supports UL's advancement of textile and apparel services for retailers and manufactures.

UL Consumer Products, a leading global provider of independent testing, inspection and audit services, today announced that M. Saeed Sheikh has joined the company as lead technical consultant and subject matter expert for the divisions textile and apparel services. With responsibility for the review and interpretation of technical data and test results, Mr. Sheikh will serve as expert technical and regulatory resource for UL customers and its softlines testing laboratories.

Mr. Sheikh joins UL Consumer Products from Gap, Inc., where he held the technical role of ensuring the maintenance of company standards and quality throughout development and production. Most recently, Mr. Sheikh was with SGS Consumer Testing, assisting customers in the resolution of quality and safety events, care labeling, and compliance to regulatory requirements including CPSIA, Children's safety, CA Prop 65, and product flammability. As Senior Manager for Esquel Enterprises Ltd., in Guangdong, China, he lead several teams to provide technical support to factories and vendors, as well as a merchandising team for product development.

"The knowledge and experience that Saeed Sheikh brings to UL provides a greater level of technical depth to our textile and apparel, and Global Technical Resource teams, while allowing UL to bring more efficiency to our operational business practices, and greater opportunities for our clients," said Michael Shows, Global Technical Research Director for UL's Consumer Products division.

Prior to joining Esquel Enterprises Ltd., Mr. Sheikh held managerial positions at The Worcester Company, Elizabeth Webbing Mills, and Harodite Finishing Company where he was responsible for implementing corporate product testing and compliance programs, providing technical expertise to pre-production, product development, and maintaining plant safety for compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
