Dr Thomas Walther, ARBURG GmbH + Co KG, appointed as the 50th "Plastics Knight" to the VDI Plastics Technology Strategy Group
The VDI (Association of German Engineers) has appointed Dr Thomas Walther (54), Director Process Development at ARBURG GmbH + Co KG, to the Plastics Technology Strategy Group. The honour was conferred at the Strategy Group's autumn symposium in Regensburg.
Dr Thomas Walther is the 50th "Plastics Knight" to be appointed to the VDI Plastics Technology Strategy Group. In his commendation, Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Hopmann (Institute of Plastics Processing at RWTH Aachen University) paid tribute to the achievements of the renowned injection moulding expert.
Dr Thomas Walther's appointment to the VDI Plastics Technology Strategy Group was formalised on 27 September 2024 in Regensburg with a symbolic "dubbing". The honour was conferred by the Board of the VDI Plastics Technology Strategy Group. Its members are Prof Dr Christian Hopmann as Chairman of the Board (Institute of Plastics Processing at RWTH Aachen University), Kurt Gebert (Allod Werkstoff GmbH & Co. KG), Torsten Ratzmann (Egeplast International GmbH) and Dr Stephanie Waschbüsch (Wirtschaftsverband der deutschen Kautschukindustrie e.V., wdk).
The VDI Plastics Technology Strategy Group is a technical committee of the Plastics Technology division of the VDI's Materials Engineering section. The objectives of the Strategy Group are to analyse and develop relevant trends in society, business, research and teaching and to form networks in the field of plastics technology. Its members, the "Knights of Plastics Technology", are leading figures from the plastics industry and the sciences. The VDI Plastics Technology Strategy Group was founded in Bamberg in 1972.
