Open letter: Declaration of economic and supply chain hardship

Dear All,

as we all have come to learn in the past months, the circumstances of the global pandemic have heavily affected everyone´s daily life. While the health aspects are certainly in the foreground for each individual, massive difficulties and consequential effects in various business activities are now also becoming apparent.

In the last several months a shortage of raw materials and services has had strong negative impacts on material and product availability and subsequently on delivery reliability and cost development in the supply chains of our industry. The current shortage concerns all kinds of raw materials and goods, such as electrical components, plastics and metals, and logistic services like freight.

Our companies and their suppliers have to deal with this very challenging situation on a daily basis, since standard delivery times for most essential components and manufacturing materials are repeatedly extended and quantities reduced or modified at a very short notice.

This disruptive situation in the supply chain was not predictable and it’s not controllable by our own means, and it must be considered like a force majeure event. An improvement in the situation is not expected before Q3/2022 according to all forecasts.

Nevertheless we, as technology and machinery manufacturers’ representatives, would like to assure you that our companies are taking all possible countermeasures to mitigate the negative effects of these critical circumstances.

Our companies are deeply sorry if they will not be able to comply with the agreements in some cases, but please be informed that everyone is doing their best to minimize any possible inconveniences.

As a trade association, we are also actively working to bring these specific instances to the institutions, urging crucial implementation measures.

In the hope that the current situation will soon shift towards a desirable improvement, we are available for any further need.

With kind regards,

GENERAL MANAGER
Andrea Briganti
