The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® (LEI) for Mexico Increases in July

The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® (LEI) for Mexico increased 0.1 percent in July to 126.0 (2004 = 100), following a 1.8 percent increase in June and a 1.1 percent increase in May.

At the same time, The Conference Board Coincident Economic Index® (CEI) for Mexico, a measure of current economic activity, increased 0.2 percent in July to 124.9 (2004 = 100), following a 0.4 percent increase in June, and a 0.4 percent increase in May.

The LEI for Mexico increased only marginally in July, but its six-month growth rate remains improved compared to the latter half of last year. Meanwhile, the CEI for Mexico also increased slightly, and its six-month growth remains moderately better. Taken together, the recent gains in both the LEI and CEI suggest that economic activity should continue to expand, but the pace is unlikely to accelerate further in the near term.
