Les Victoires de la Presse: the annual gathering of the French-speaking press

WAN-IFRA is organising a unique event in Lyons, France, on 17 December: Les Victoires de la Presse, an awards presentation ceremony and colloquium held to honour outstanding projects -- both editorial and technological -- in the French language news publishing industry.

The second edition will take place in two highly symbolic locations in Lyons: the Town Hall and "L'Abbaye Paul Bocuse" restaurant.

The awards

The awards are given for Newspaper Manager, Smartphone and Digital Tablet Application, News Website, Innovative Marketing, Press Freedom, New Newspaper, Industry Project, Scoop of the Year, Editorial Innovation, Print and Digital Advertising Campaign, Promotion of French Language and Culture, and a special Jury Prize.

The president of the jury this year is Jean Miot, the former President of SPQN, the French National Newspaper Association, the Supervisory Board of Le Figaro and Agence France-Presse.

The colloquium

With Thomas Hervé as moderator, the colloquium (from 4pm to 6 pm in the Lyons Town Hall) will focus on "The impact of digital tablets on the information world". About 3 million such devices can already be found in French homes, compared to just 44,000 in 2010, and tablets are destined to become part of our daily lives in the future.
The colloquium will focus on both tablet content and the best way to monetize that content.

Speaking at the meeting will be Martin Belam, a consultant at Emblem in the United Kingdom, and Eric Villemin, digital strategy consultant at WAN-IFRA, and former General Manager, Internet and Digital Operations, at the Les Echos group and former manager of linternaute.com

The session will be followed by a cocktail reception with all participants.

The gala evening

Co-presented by Anne Glemarec, a journalist at Euronews, and by François Guttin-Lombard, Chief Information Officer at Le Progrès, the gala evening event will take place in the prestigious "L'Abbaye de Collonges" with a dinner by Paul Bocuse. Fine cuisine, presentation of the awards, cabaret and musical entertainment will all be part of the evening event.
