Unlimited ebook Subscription App, Oyster, Now Available On Android, Kindle Fire And Nook HD

Built from the ground up, Oyster for Android showcases beautiful, immersive design and brings subscription books to new, eager audience

Oyster, the unlimited ebook subscription service, today announced the launch of Oyster for Android. The app is now available on all Android devices, Kindle Fire, and Nook HD, in addition to iOS devices. The team has focused on building this app with the highest quality, all with the Android platform in mind.

"Since launching last fall, Oyster for Android has been the number one incoming request from readers," said Eric Stromberg, Co-Founder and CEO of Oyster. "Ultimately, we want to be available on every platform where people want to read, and this is an important step toward that goal."

Oyster for Android was designed from the ground up, and showcases a beautiful and dynamic design which adapts to Android's many screen sizes. Features include a redesigned reader offering new fonts, in addition to a responsive layout and color palette in Standard, Nomad, Herald, Crosby and Wythe reader themes. Wythe, a brand new theme, features a high contrast, news text typeface well-suited for outdoor and beach reading.

All five readers can now be used in night mode, and a new "read time" range on the book detail page shows how long it will take, on average, to finish each book. Leveraging functionality unique to Android, readers have the ability to turn the page using the phone's volume buttons.

"We didn't just want to make a straight translation of Oyster for iOS, but instead create a thoughtfully designed app that highlights Android's best features," said Willem Van Lancker, Co-Founder & CPO of Oyster. "We've always prided ourselves on beautiful and unique design, and with this new app we're delivering that immersive, all-in-one Oyster experience to a new audience of readers."

The past two months have been transformative for Oyster, including both the announcement of a partnership with Simon & Schuster and reaching more than 500,000 titles in their library. Millions of pages are now read on Oyster every day, and today's product launch makes the Oyster reading experience available to the growing community of Android users.

Oyster is available for $9.95 per month. Readers can visit the website to start a 30-day free trial
