HONEYWELL AND PAPERTECH COOPERATE ON QUALITY MONITORING IN THE FILM INDUSTRY WITH CAMERA-BASED SYSTEM

The offering combines Honeywell's expertise in film quality control systems with Papertech's network monitoring and inspection expertise to improve production quality and efficiency.

Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announces a collaboration with Papertech to develop and commercialize TotalVision™, a networked, camera-based recognition system for the film industry. The system enables customers to detect and correct errors in the production process, improving quality and efficiency. The fully integrated solution for comprehensive quality monitoring is designed for film and film processes where surface and production fault monitoring functions are critical to economic success. This new solution is designed for manufacturers of paper, pulp, tissue, board, extrusions, calenders, lithium-ion batteries, copper and aluminum foils.
By combining Honeywell's ExperionMX™ - Technology with the market-leading capabilities of Papertech's TotalVision™ for error detection and event logging, the solution provides a unified operating environment for all aspects of process control and quality monitoring. Customers benefit from faster root cause determination of process and quality problems, saving significant production losses or inferior production. By integrating with coupled options such as Honeywell QCS 4.0, system data and analysis can be retrieved anytime, anywhere and from any device.
"Honeywell is an ideal partner for Papertech because the unified platform of the TotalVision™ camera system, which includes our industry-leading WebInspector WIS and WebVision (WMS), integrates seamlessly with Honeywell's quality monitoring systems in a variety of industries," said Kari Hilden, CEO of Papertech Inc. "We look forward to working with the global Honeywell team and their customers.
Honeywell will continue to support current users of the camera systems with spare parts and services while providing an easy migration path to the new solution. The cooperative nature of the agreement allows customers to choose whether they prefer a unified approach or prefer to commission Honeywell and Papertech independently.
"As the global shift from plastic packaging to biomaterials and from hydrocarbon vehicles to electric vehicles takes place, film manufacturers increasingly need to ensure that their production consistently meets a variety of performance and safety requirements," said Michael Kennelly, responsible for Honeywell Process Solutions' worldwide sheet, film and film industry. "The combination of Honeywell's core competencies in measurement, control, integrated applications and services in film production with Papertech's leading role in network monitoring and inspection systems provides our customers with unique opportunities combined with exemplary run-time costs".
Papertech is the world's leading supplier of vision systems for a variety of web-based production lines with more than 1200 TotalVision™ installations in 42 countries. It is part of the IBS Paper Performance Group, a company with over 50 years of history in providing a comprehensive range of proven solutions to optimize paper manufacturers' machine efficiency and product quality.
