- Canon ColorStream series achieves production availability of 94 percent

With over 1,400 installations in data centres, print service providers and specialist commercial printers worldwide, the Canon ColorStream series is recognised around the world: It has established itself as a productive and reliable high-volume printing solution for various mailings, publishing and commercial applications.
Building on a decade of continuous innovation, the highly productive series, comprising the Canon ColorStream 3000, -3000Z and -6000, has printed over 300 billion A4 pages worldwide. Mainly bank statements, direct mailings, pharmaceutical package inserts and books were produced. A key aspect for many commercial printers who want to invest in digital inkjet technology is the level of quality that a Canon digital printing solution offers compared to existing machines.
Oliver Winkelmann, Managing Director of QITS, an IT and business services provider based in Ratingen, Germany, explains why quality is a decisive factor when investing in Canon ColorStream: "Up to now we have ruled out inkjet because of the investment required and the quality of the print output. Digital printing should be very close to offset printing in terms of quality. This is the only way to make the changeover a success. At some point, however, differences in quality no longer existed. Our customers were able to streamline processes and eliminate offset preprints. Gradually, we shifted most of our orders to digital full-colour production. From 2018, inkjet printing became the quality standard, even for our large direct mail customers.
With the Canon ColorStream 6000, customers can rely on 94 percent availability. Production is virtually automated, allowing employees to focus on developing new business and growing the company.
In addition to the automated process, customers praise the ease of use, which reduces manual intervention and increases production efficiency. Canon ColorStream systems are in high demand in France, Germany, Italy and the USA. Over 40 percent of customers have more than one digital printer installed.
Peter Wolff, Vice President, Production Printing Products (PPP), EMEA Commercial Printing, Canon Europe, comments: "Since the launch of the Canon ColorStream series, we have listened carefully to customer feedback and have continuously developed the product range to meet their needs. We see our commitment confirmed by the fact that demand, now in its third generation, remains extremely strong. With the first printer in the series, we revolutionised digital inkjet technology. We are proud that we are the market leader in Europe with a current market share of 43 percent. Through close dialogue with our customers, we ensure that their current requirements are met with the highest reliability, productivity and quality. Every Canon ColorStream can be tailored to the buyer's needs - from speed and colour to customised inks and tailor-made inline finishing integration. Today, there are so many optional upgrades. We guarantee that every buyer will get the right solution to suit their business and drive growth."
