Canon introduces PIXMA PRO-200: A3+ photo printer for serious photographers

- Successor to the popular PIXMA PRO-100S
- Automatic skew correction for all paper sizes
- Borderless photo printing also on fine art media

Canon introduces the PIXMA PRO-200. The new printer surprises with a compact design, innovative technologies and new inks. With A3+, the colour printer is perfect for photo enthusiasts and newcomers who want to take their first steps in the world of high-quality photo printing. The PIXMA PRO-200 allows borderless photo printing on a wide range of paper types with different textures and sizes. Whether you feed the paper automatically or manually, the new skew correction feature ensures a straight paper path, even with paper lengths up to 99cm.
The new printer replaces the successful PIXMA PRO-100S, and features eight separate dye-based inks that deliver exceptionally deep blacks and vibrant colours. Some inks have been optimised to reproduce a wider colour gamut. The PIXMA PRO-200 also scores with speed: in just 90 seconds*, it brings vibrantly coloured A3+ photographs to paper with borders. The new large 3-inch (7.5 cm) LCD screen provides intuitive control and management of the printing process. The PIXMA PRO-200 offers a range of exciting new printing options. For example, Canon's Professional Print & Layout software optimises the workflow from capture to print. Both soft and hard proofing is now possible. This means that the printout can be quickly and easily adapted to the screen view using the new software.
Vibrant, high quality colours
The PIXMA PRO-200 is designed for photographers looking for vibrant, high-quality prints. Canon has been able to significantly expand the reproducible colour space. The new 8-ink dye-based ink system allows photo printing with superior colour brilliance. The new A3+ printer features an extended colour gamut in three areas: Red, blue and black - the result is exhibition-ready in every respect.
Simply the best possible result
The printer has become amazingly light. Weighing just 14.1 kg, it is 5.6 kg lighter than its predecessor and 15 per cent more compact. This means that large formats can now be produced even where space is limited. The PIXMA PRO-200's large colour display is very practical, allowing users to check ink levels and other printer settings at a glance while continuing to work effortlessly. Combined with the high print speed, the PIXMA PRO-200 is proven to produce high quality prints without compromising on timing.
A comprehensive software package completes the picture. For photographers, Canon's free Professional Print & Layout software offers exciting ways to print your images in a unique way. Images can be colour-matched from screen to print to ensure lifelike reproduction. Built-in skew correction ensures that an accidentally skewed print media is accurately aligned and reliably printed. This reduces costs especially when processing very high quality art print media.
Everything under control
To ensure that every print looks professional, the PIXMA PRO-200 offers the ability to print borderless on both glossy and art paper. The PIXMA PRO-200 prints on a wide range of paper sizes up to A3+, as well as on custom lengths up to 990.6 millimetres from Canon and other suppliers. Creative boundaries and challenges can be redefined when printing on fine art and glossy media, as well as on Canon's new Premium Fine Art Rough (FA-RG1) paper. In addition, the PIXMA PRO-200 offers the option of loading ICC profiles from many other well-known paper manufacturers. The Media Configuration Tool known from imagePROGRAF printers is very helpful for this purpose. Not only can the profiles be managed, they can also be saved in the printer. To support photographers in realising their creative wishes from shooting to printing, Canon offers the software Professional Print & Layout, which works independently and is available as a plug-in for Canon DPP, Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
