HP announces HP PageWide T700i Press for paper-based packaging

New web press boosts efficiency in high-volume corrugated and folding carton packaging production

At Corrugated Week 2022, HP will showcase the HP PageWide T700i Press. The new 1.7-metre digital web printing platform enables print service providers to achieve greater operational efficiency in high-volume production of digital single-sided lamination, corrugated and folding carton applications.

HP continues to invest in the packaging market to create new opportunities for packaging manufacturers and brands. In addition, brands can move from analogue to digital technologies to achieve digital transformation.
The HP PageWide T700i Press, expected to be available in late 2023, can be configured to meet individual customer and market needs and includes a variety of inline options for manual or continuous unwind, priming, coating and output in both roll and sheet format. Selected configurations have a maximum print speed of up to 300m/min. Thanks to HP's single-pass thermal inkjet technology with water-based inks, recyclable packaging can also be printed. In this way, users also support the circular economy.
The new press platform increases line capacity and reduces manufacturing costs for paper-based packaging production. At the same time, it enables packaging manufacturers to print with significantly shorter turnaround times and lower minimum order quantities. As a result, inventory levels are optimised and can be shifted to analogue printing capacity for longer runs [1]. For converters facing increasing supply chain challenges, the press offers a significant opportunity for business growth by enabling improved economics, greater production flexibility and more sustainable packaging solutions.
"With the development of the T700i Press, we are responding to the needs of our customers and the market. Today, more than ever, converters need greater flexibility to respond to dynamic market trends and challenges. Digital packaging printing will continue to fundamentally change the supply chain for high-volume and mainstream production," said Annette Friskopp, global head and general manager, HP PageWide Industrial. "With the HP T700i Press, customers will save production costs, shorten turnaround times and be able to accept higher-value print jobs[1]."
The new press features the next generation of HP Thermal Inkjet printheads, which are suitable for industrial production. The inkjet technology builds on previous HP Thermal Inkjet generations to provide customers with consistent and repeatable six-colour offset print quality at high speeds for high-graphics packaging. Users of the T700i Press will also benefit from HP's production scalability and integration of HP's industrial printing businesses.
Following the 110-inch HP PageWide T1100S Press in 2015 and upgrades such as the HP PageWide T1170, T1190 and the T1195i Press, the HP PageWide T700i Press is the second model developed in collaboration with Koenig & Bauer. "Koenig & Bauer is one of the world's leading press manufacturers with more than 200 years of experience in building presses and developing innovative solutions that meet customers' quality expectations," said Christoph Müller, Koenig & Bauer board member. "The HP PageWide T700i Press combines our expertise with HP's leading and innovative inkjet technology to offer packaging manufacturers unprecedented flexibility and quality consistency."
HP will be at Corrugated Week 2022 in San Antonio, Texas, from 19-21 September, in booth #406, and will be showcasing the new T700i Press in the "What's New" session on Wednesday, 21 September, at 10:30am.
