San Sebastián International Film Festival has signed NEC as digital cinema projector provider

In collaboration with Kelonik, NEC becomes the official digital cinema projector supplier for the event

NEC Display Solutions Europe today announced it has been selected by the San Sebastián International Film Festival (SSIFF) to be its digital cinema projectors supplier. Working with Kelonik, a leading integrator specialising in cinema projectors and sounds for cinemas, NEC’s projectors will be used at this year’s event taking place from 20 to 28 September 2019.

Founded in 1953, the SSIFF is recognised by the International Federation of Film Producers' Associations (FIAPF) as a ‘top category competitive film festival’. It aims to make a positive contribution to the development of film culture and the industry, to achieve this it must deliver outstanding cinema experiences to its attendees. Large screens and dual projection capabilities of the highest quality are required. Last year’s event attracted almost 1,700 accredited industry guests from 63 countries around the world.

“With Kelonik as the technical partner of our festival for over 35 years and NEC as our new digital cinema projector partner, we can be certain that we will be able to provide screenings of exceptional quality across the entire festival. This will include one of the biggest screens and dual projection in any film festival worldwide”, said José Luis Rebordinos, Director of the SSIFF.

“The San Sebastián International Film Festival is a ‘top category competitive film festival’ in the same vein as Cannes, Berlin and Venice. We are extremely proud to be the official digital cinema projector supplier. For decades, the projections in the Velodrome have been the best connection between attendees and the festival. Every year, almost 25,000 people attend to assist the event. With the help of NEC´s laser technology too, we will bring the experience to a new threshold. We’re looking forward to helping deliver great experiences for all festival attendees”, concluded Alain Chamaillard, Head of Cinema EMEA & CIS, NEC Display Solutions.
