Finishing comes into focus at The Color Company

Cheltenham magazine and commercial printer The Color Company is investing in new finishing equipment, taking delivery of a Stahlfolder BH 56 in March and a Muller Martini stitching line. Both replace Horizon systems.

The company runs the latest Speedmaster SX 74 B2 format press, one of two Heidelberg five-colour presses.
The new equipment will enable the company to respond to the rapid turnaround time required in the magazine publishing market.
The BH folder series was launched last year to provide an industrial level folding solution at a competitive price. It features the Tremat feeder suction head and easy to handle streamed delivery. There is centralised control from a touchscreen to ensure fast set up and accurate folding with perfect sheet alignment across a range of stocks.
"We like to be in the forefront of the latest technology and the purchase of this new equipment will afford us this opportunity This investment will prevent bottlenecks and make us even more efficient. Staff will be trained and will quickly adapt to the new automation," says Ashley Wainwright, managing director. "Some customers require 24 hour turnround from start to finish and so we need reliable technology to meet that.need."
The company at present operates a shift system five days a week but frequently runs overtime at the weekends, particularly at month ends to accommodate mainly magazine deadlines.
