Theiler Druck AG, Switzerland: Just as much automation as necessary

Independence and the preservation of traditions are of central importance to Theiler Druck AG, a fourth generation family business. The focus should therefore be on its own production technology. After having invested in new printing technology in the summer of 2013, came last January's step to modernize postpress processing.

Now a total of 13,500 newspaper copies are processed on a MiniSert from Ferag. It is able to add two inserts to the main product, immediately followed by an inkjet system for addressing of the approximately 2,500 subscriber newspapers. Theiler Druck AG strives for as much independence and flexibility as possible and the compact and straightforward MiniSert concept lives up to those expectations. Prevailing manual work has been replaced by an automatic inserting process that ensures higher efficiency and speed. It is mainly during night production that reliable, stable production technology is required that will run without specialists and technicians. Moreover, the operating concept is very welcome with the staff, who are still used to manual work, says publisher Philip Theiler. Time pressure is high, and the personnel must be able to rely on their equipment.
