Caravan supplier tegos about eurolaser: ‘Uncompromisingly good service!’
When the fly screen in the new caravan keeps the annoying pests out and no gap is left open, then, eurolaser could be involved. Besides, the expert for laser cutting systems supports tegos GmbH & Co. KG with an industrial carbon dioxide laser for the of cutting high-quality materials for surface-mount components of caravans and camping vehicles. As an OEM, tegos uses the laser cutter to produce high-quality doors, flaps and fly screens made of plastics, textiles, wood and foams. Thanks to optimal nesting and a direct interface to tegos ERP, the new laser cutting machine from eurolaser ensures less waste and quick, economical and safe production.

From the beginning of the concept phase through to commissioning, the project was a great success. Mr Matthias Müller, Head of Overall Production at tegos: ‘What really impressed us was the excellent support of the eurolaser employees. I was looking for a machine solution that would be able to process, or rather to cut, the majority of our materials which needs to be cut. It was particularly important to me that the system can flexibly be used and that it can process the prepared production orders for an ERP export with regard to nesting optimisation without having to further process this export in advance.’ The customer service of eurolaser was enjoying meeting this challenge.
Software individualisation: eurolaser flanges control software to tegos ERP
Ruben Schnackertz, Area Sales Manager at eurolaser: ‘In addition to the laser hardware, we have also adapted the nesting software of our laser machine so that it was easy to export out of tegos' ERP software - for less waste and more simplicity of use! Besides, our laser cutter XL-3200 enables a safer, faster and therefore more economical manufacturing process for tegos.’
Mr Müller, Head of Overall Production at tegos: The fact that eurolaser has uncompromisingly agreed to the nesting software adaptation shows that eurolaser cares about customer orientation. With the tailor-made software, we save a huge amount of time in production and assembly. eurolaser has brought us another important step towards economy and process reliability.’
Camper and Caravan OEM cuts up to 30 different materials with the eurolaser machine
Tegos' production facility is located in idyllic Ostrach in Baden-Württemberg, half an hour's drive north of Lake Constance. The XL-3200 laser cutting system is the largest model in the XL series from eurolaser with a processing area of ​​2,270 x 3,200 millimeters. Tegos uses the machine to cut more than 30 different materials on it, such as various woods, plastics e.g. PS, ABS and acrylic sheets. Besides, they also cut textiles, leather and modern PU and XPS foams, which are mainly used for insulation. Further important arguments for the laser cutting system from eurolaser are the perfect cutting edges and dimensional accuracy as well as a maximum flexibility in the choice of materials.
However, eurolaser has also a solution for materials that are required for caravan interior work but which cannot be cut with a laser. In addition to the laser cutting head, the XL-3200 is also equipped with a knife. Mechanical tool heads can be installed on the laser machine in parallel to the laser. This enables tegos to use also mechanical processing for its materials. Therefore, the laser system cuts plastics, such as PVC, for example, with a knife. Although PVC can excellently be cut with a laser, the thermal processing creates toxic substances which are hazardous to health for the operator.
Flagship project: faster, better, easier
Ruben Schnackertz from eurolaser: ‘Yes, the project went really perfectly and all in all, it only took a year. We listened carefully to the requirements of tegos and we thought of everything from then on. The objective was to make cutting of the materials as simple as possible for the rapidly growing customer.‘ That was crucial as the medium-sized company had cut many of its materials by hand before the laser implementation. ‘However, the immense demand for high-quality tegos products simply means that manual work is no longer possible.’, Schnackertz continues. ‘Here, it deals with highly individualised premium products that have to meet the highest quality standards. In production, everything should go very quickly, for example, with the tegos doors. Besides, our XL-3200 helps a lot, of course.‘
