Titan-Polymer Purchases Two BOBST EXPERT K5’s

The Titan-Polymer plant based in the Pskov region of Russia has purchased two EXPERT K5 2900 mm vacuum metallizers which will be installed at their BOPET production facility. Both machines incorporate the latest BOBST technologies namely high speed metallization and a large 700 mm diameter coating drum. One of the machines is equipped with the BOBST AlOx process for production of transparent high barrier films.

EXPERT K5 Unique Innovations
The new machines possess a 700 mm drum which is the largest in the industry for BOPET film coating. The larger drum increases collection efficiency by 16% which means less aluminum consumption leading to maximum productivity and consequently to production cost savings.
The EXPERT K5 is able to metallize at high speeds due to the High Rate Source and possesses many functions which ensure stable product quality. It is also important that the machines are distinguished by great environmental characteristics; during downtime, the integrated software activates the ECO mode function which supplies energy and cooling water only when necessary which allows reduction in energy consumption by up to 50% and thus reduces the impact on the environment.
One of the machines which will be supplied to the Titan-Polymer plant is equipped with the innovative BOBST AlOx process which is well-established in the market. The AlOx technology allows production of a transparent high barrier coating which is a more sustainable alternative to existing metallized barrier coatings.
Commenting on the new investment, German Petrushko, General Director of Titan-Polymer Ltd said “We highly appreciate the cooperation with BOBST, a company with a reputation as a manufacturer of high quality vacuum metallizers. We expect that the equipment will be installed at the production site this year, this will allow us to offer our customers both high-barrier metallized and transparent films”.
The “Titan” Group of Companies was founded in 1989, and is one of the largest petrochemical companies in Siberia. The Group of Companies has implemented the Titan-Polymer project in the Moglino Special Economic Zone (Russia, Pskov region). The new enterprise will produce about 72,000 tons of BOPET films and about 210,000 tons of PET chips per year. The products will be delivered to the markets of Russia, Eastern and Western Europe.
