Customised void labels: The right effect for every application

The global market for counterfeit medicines is around 200 billion US dollars. Every year it grows by about 20 percent - twice as fast as the legal pharmaceutical market. Counterfeits and manipulations pose potential health risks to patients. For the pharmaceutical industry, this results in major economic losses and damage to its image. Special void seals by Schreiner MediPharm can be used to protect pharmaceutical packaging. Attempts at tampering and the initial opening thus become clearly and irreversibly visible.

As early as February 2019, the European Union reacted to the growing market with counterfeit medicines and issued the EU Anti-Counterfeiting Directive for pharmaceutical packaging. The globally uniform standard ISO 21976 also specifies how security features on medicinal product packaging can be used and manipulations can be checked. It also specifies the requirements for tamper-evident pharmaceutical packaging. Schreiner MediPharm's customised void labels fulfil all these requirements.
The use of Schreiner MediPharm's void labels makes it much more difficult for counterfeiters to reuse original packaging. When a label with a void effect is peeled off, a previously hidden message becomes visible. After extensive tests, Schreiner MediPharm adapts the closure seals specifically to the packaging, material, substrate and application, and they can be customised. The film material can be chosen between different colours, white and transparent. The void effects can also be used for glass or plastic containers. Depending on the individual use case, different void effects can be realised:
Without transfer - No Transfer
When the label is removed, no residue remains on the pharmaceutical packaging. The void effect is only visible in the label after the first opening. Reclosure of the label with a visible void effect is possible.
Partial Transfer - Semi Transfer
Removal of the seal leaves partial residue on the pharmaceutical packaging. After opening for the first time, the void effect is visible in the label as well as on the packaging. Reclosure of the label with visible void effect is possible.
Complete transfer - Full Transfer
The void label leaves a complete layer on the packaging when it is removed. The void effect is therefore visible on the pharmaceutical packaging and label after the first opening, but a reclosure of the label is not possible.
In addition, a convenient grip tab can be integrated. This makes handling particularly easy for the end user. By adding overt or covert authentication features, the void seals can also serve as proof of originality. Schreiner MediPharm ensures optimal and reliable functioning of the seal, which is precisely adapted to the respective packaging and the specific threat scenario.
