viscom düsseldorf 2015: Exhibitors present Numerous Product Highlights

You cannot help looking when holographs turn products into real eye-catchers, when displays are converted into gems or when entire stands are made out of paper. Boasting a host of product highlights viscom düsseldorf 2015 shows how to attract potential customers' attention and make advertising messages sure-fire. 307 companies are presented at the International Trade Fair for Visual Communication in Düsseldorf from Wednesday to Friday, 4 to 6 November. In the age of 360-degree communication viscom brings together all disciplines of brand communication: from technology and material to applications and marketing. One thing is for sure: visual communication must move people, appeal to all the senses, thrill, be awe-inspiring and leave a lasting impact.

New faces at viscom

Just under 80 new exhibitors present themselves at viscom this year bringing plenty of fresh ideas to the market. Hailing from 21 countries these first-time exhibitors come not only from the German-speaking countries but also from Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Estonia, China and Hong Kong, to name but a few. And they will bring products that are guaranteed to stay on visitors' minds.

One such product is the Digital Signage solution by Iltis & Wiesel . I&W develops, manufactures and distributes smart, high-quality electronic design products that can be personalised and seamlessly blend in with, and enrich customers' everyday lives. At viscom the company will be showcasing its Smart Display [re:frame] – a changeable display with built-in media player (linux / Android / Windows) plus multi-touch option in sizes 27, 46 and 55 inch that is framed like an oil painting. Here technology meets design and customers are spoilt for choice: classic wooden or Bauhaus-style frame.

The Vodafone floor-standing display "gift-cards" by Brohl Wellpappe has been nominated for the display SUPERSTAR, the award of the awards in the display industry. The special feature of this triangular turning display is its mix of materials that makes for an appealing look but also for stability ensuring long-term deployment for up to 18 months. The printed elements consist of offset-laminated corrugated board coated with a UV varnish providing long-term protection. To stabilise the display a plastic body and a particle-board was incorporated into the foot while a metal turntable ensures the right twist and turn for this POS head-turner.

Highest print quality at low cost is the guiding principle of Bordeaux Digital PrintInk . This company from Israel is using its trade fair appearance at viscom to make further in-roads into the German market. For this Bordeaux Digital PrintInk will be opening a branch office in Aachen. The product range includes all types of ink – from eco-friendly and solvent-based inks to UV and UV-LED-curing inks, not forgetting dye sublimation and state-of-the-art latex inks. On top of this, the company has a comprehensive range of liquid laminates and UV-curing coatings in store for large-format graphic prints, vehicle signage and document finishing.

SamtEtikett® is a self-adhesive label material with unrivalled depth – it already projects exclusivity from afar and triggers that "need to touch". The unique touch intuitively conveys the highest quality, which is then associated with the product. SamtEtikett® labels are an innovation launched by the agency HS design that is a first-time exhibitor at viscom this year and that can also be seen in the world of inspiration area (Hall 8a / Stand K 41).

One of a kind: viscom world of inspiration

New projects, products and ideas that make brand and advertising staging perfect are on show at viscom's world of inspiration. This Special Area at viscom is a key touch point for branded companies, marketing and product managers, trade marketing managers, agencies, creative workers and designers, industrial and store designers and advertising technicians. Here innovations and trends for the point of sale, from the world of packaging as well as post-press innovations and material highlights are presented in four segments.

instore & object design
In the instore & object design area the manufacturers' latest highlights are showcased in a real PoS environment. Featured here will be ComPlott Papier Union GmbH, DURABLE Hunke & Jochheim GmbH & Co. KG, FUJIFILM Deutschland, Glacryl Hedel GmbH, HOLOCO GmbH, idee GmbH, Iltis & Wiesel UG & CO. KG, PHOTOFABRICS e.K. and SWAP (Sachsen) GmbH.

A very intense visual impact is promised by HOLOCO, for example. This holographic advertising display can bring real products to life in an attention-grabbing way. 3D animations float freely in space in the HOLOCO like a real, revolving object. This allows products to be staged spectacularly.

Photofabrics launches Gloprint, an innovation in the carpet printing sector. By using 540 nozzles with a 76 dpi resolution, this digitally adapted technology makes it possible to print with fluorescent inks on floor or wall carpeting. These are then made visible with the help of black light, which makes motifs and logos virtually glow.

Antalis GmbH, LEONHARD KURZ Stiftung & Co. KG, PrintCity GmbH + Co. KG as well as Sappi Alfeld GmbH are the exhibitors at the technology & materials area. Here new packaging printing processes, post-press technologies, new materials as well as inks and varnishes are centre stage. On show will be both the machinery and the results they are capable of producing.

Sappi Europe SA is a leading producer of special papers and cardboards for packaging new to viscom. Sappi's special papers and cardboards allow for efficient and sustainable packaging solutions for flexible packaging, labels, rigid packaging, top liners and release liners. At viscom's world of inspiration the company will be exhibiting a variety of innovative packaging specimen including ones with an integral mineral-oil barrier.

design & development
The design & development area focuses on sales promotion through appropriate design. Exhibitors here include HS design Dieter Hauser GmbH & Co. KG and IDL Crack Europe GmbH.

HS design has been on the market as a consulting and design agency for 29 years now. Latest developments include innovative materials for sticky labels marketed under the "Superior Label" brand in a joint venture.

IDL Crack Europe is also featured at the trade fair for the first time, displaying packaging in conjunction with functionality at viscom's world of inspiration. The fragrance flacon developed by IDL Crack Europe is sure to fascinate – at the press of a button Narcissique exudes its enticing scent paired with a sensual experience: the stroke of a feather.

The design & development area will be extended to include the designers' treff this year. Here the creative industry will network with packaging producers and branded manufacturers on an exclusive area. Demand for good designers is particularly high in packaging design. Five young designers are firm fixtures at the 2015 designers' treff . The participating design staff will be given a place at the "designers' bar" and can present themselves at a glance with a big "wanted poster". This fact sheet features the designer's specialty, references and information on preferred projects and customers. In the run-up to the event viscom already invites the designers' desired customers to the trade fair. Last year, over 1,000 visitors with brand responsibility attended viscom – a priceless contact pool for self-employed designers.

products & applications
(Print) products place brands at the PoS providing shoppers with orientation and prompting them to buy. The viscom world of inspiration presents print miracles from the premium segment. Exhibiting here are Letterjazz Print-Studio and Sand Media alongside numerous winning products of two important industry awards.

In excess of 100 entries of outstanding quality characterised this year's Pro Carton ECMA Award that honours excellent packaging solutions from all retail segments. For 18 years the awards of this European folding box association have served as both an inspiration and an incentive for packaging producers, branded companies, designers and retailers. viscom visitors will be given the unique opportunity to see all the winning exhibits pooled at one trade fair.

Presented at viscom will be the PrintStars. The winners of this award presented by trade magazine Deutscher Drucker will be introduced to the public for the first time in Düsseldorf.
