Large format digital printing pioneer STIEFEL DIGITALPRINT GmbH is a leader in the field of digital large format printing. With more than 15 different large format printing systems, the company, which has 70 employees, serves the complete portfolio in large format printing. It produces products for the advertising campaigns of well-known brands, advertising agencies and print service providers around the world. Since September, the new TECKWIN SHARK 5000 LED from Magenta Vision has successfully supported production at STIFEL DIGITALPRINT GmbH.
"We were looking for a cost-effective machine that delivers good quality and above all is easy to maintain", explains Bernhard Stiefel, Managing Director of STIEFEL DIGITALPRINT GmbH.
The TECKWIN SHARK 5000 LED was installed at STIEFEL DIGITALPRINT GmbH in mid-September 2019 and has since been fully integrated into everyday production without any problems. "The contact to Magenta Vision was established via Facebook" Bernhard Stiefel remembers with a smile. A longstanding business partner was now responsible for sales of the Polish manufacturer's printing systems, and so contact was established.
The TECKWIN SHARK 5000 LED is a high-performance printer in super-large format with a maximum print width of 5 meters.
The system prints with different resolutions from 397 x 900 dpi (280 square meters per hour) up to a maximum of 1191 x 1200 dpi (70 square meters per hour).
The investment meets all the requirements that Bernhard Stiefel had placed on the new printing system. The digital printing pioneer started his digital large-format printing business as early as 1996 and has since been able to gain a great deal of experience with the then new technology. Especially the technical experience benefits him today. "We needed a printing system that was not "over-engineered" and easy to use," explains Bernhard Stiefel, and continues: "We work in three shifts and also often have relatively short delivery times and a high time pressure, so our systems have to print reliably around the clock and without downtime. It is particularly important to him that his employees can carry out simple maintenance work on the printing system themselves at any time, without the help of the manufacturer's technical service department. He is particularly pleased that the print heads can also be easily replaced without much effort.
Despite all the technical performance, Bernhard Stiefel especially praises the good quality of the TECKWIN SHARK 5000 LED. "We are very satisfied with the quality of the printer," says Bernhard Stiefel, who has already gained a new customer due to the successful installation of the TECKWIN SHARK 5000 LED printing system. "Especially on textiles, the quality of the printer is so good that we were able to convince a large exhibition stand construction service provider".
The TECKWIN SHARK 5000 LED is a roll-to-roll system and it prints banners and textiles at STIEFEL DIGITALPRINT GmbH. It is not only the high print quality that convinces Bernhard Stiefel, but also the outstanding properties of the ink.
In addition to digital printing with nine sewing machines for the production of flags and for exhibition stand construction, the company also has the complete finishing in-house. When sewing digitally printed fabrics, it happens that the ink breaks or kicks off in the sewing areas. According to Bernhard Stiefel, this is not the case with the printed fabrics of the TECKWIN SHARK 5000 LED. "The ink mix is very insensitive to kinks", says Bernhard Stiefel happily, "when processing the printed fabrics there are almost no kinks, which is of course highly appreciated by our customers".
Bernhard Stiefel does not want to ignore another aspect: "It is indeed the case that the TECKWIN SHARK 5000 LED consumes significantly less energy than other systems," explains the expert, who is normally very critical of such information from the manufacturer, but can confirm this fact with his own measurements just a few weeks after installation. "We are very pleased with the Magenta Vision solution", explains Bernhard Stiefel, "when we look at the purchase price, the ink and the maintenance, the bottom line is that the printing system is unbeatably cheap".
