UVgel-Wallpaper-Factory: Quick and automated wallpaper production with jumbo rolls

- Canon Colorado and partner Fotoba develop UV gel wallpaper factory

- Ideal for high-volume orders - especially in the interior decoration segment
- Modular and fully automated workflow solution
- Upgrade for existing Canon Colorado installations possible

Canon developed the UV gel wallpaper factory together with its partner Fotoba. This is a solution in which a Canon Colorado is coupled with a jumbo roll from Fotoba. The UVgel-Wallpaper-Factory stands for maximum throughput, high quality and automated production of individual wallpapers. It is available as a complete end-to-end solution for prospective customers and as an upgrade for existing Canon Colorado installations.
The modular workflow solution consists of a powered Fotoba jumbo media dispenser, which is positioned at the front of the Canon Colorado. The large format printer is connected inline with the Fotoba Cutter XLD 170WP and a Rewinder REW 162 to automatically cut flexible media into individual widths and lengths. Producing wallpaper rolls is child's play with the integrated adhesive tape unit: simply print, cut and wind. The printed wallpaper rolls can be delivered and glued immediately. Furthermore, with this solution, the two media rolls in the material drawer of the Canon Colorado for regular print jobs can still be controlled without changing media.
The UVgel Wallpaper Factory can also be integrated into existing workflows thanks to the open interface structure of the Canon Colorado. Accordingly, operators have the possibility to choose from various suppliers of input and output solutions.
The productive Canon Colorado in combination with the jumbo roll feeder delivers outstanding print throughput: automated and unattended, from media input to output, the UVgel Wallpaper Factory always works reliably. Thanks to full automation, even larger volumes can be easily achieved.
In addition, dimensional accuracy and colour consistency are of central importance in wallpaper production in order to guarantee perfect register and colour accuracy for wallpaper from panel to panel (or web to web). All this opens up opportunities for print service providers to further increase sales.
But the UVgel Wallpaper Factory offers more: the advantage of UVgel inks is that they dry without separate heat. As a result, there is no media distortion during production on a Canon Colorado, ensuring high-quality prints. For high-volume jobs, UVgel technology offers maximum controlled expansion of the ink droplet on the print media - even at high printing speeds. This guarantees perfect colour consistency print after print, even if production is done on several printers and at different times. Reprints with guaranteed colour consistency are existential - especially with digital wallpaper printing.
With the unique FLXfinish technology, individually designed wallpapers with a velvety matt finish are also possible, which clearly stand out from the competition and additionally boost demand.
Canon UVgel inks are odourless and are certified by ASTM International Institute (originally American Society for Testing and Materials) as Greenguard Gold, AgBB (Committee for Health Evaluation of Building Products) and Type II.
This means that wallpapers printed with Canon Colorado are emission-free and can be glued securely.
Dirk Brouns, Vice President Large Format Graphics at Canon Production Printing, comments: "Our customers benefit from our UVgel technology, as it can open up new markets for interior decoration.
