Safety first: Comprehensive hygiene concept guarantees the safety of exhibitors and visitors
A virus, the lockdown and the way to a new normal: COVID-19 has kept the world in suspense in the past months. The advertising industries have also been hit hard by this development. Many industries have stopped advertising and events have been canceled or postponed, including 2,500 trade fairs. With the first loosening, the view now goes forward again. While the current financial year is characterized by losses, the three trade fairs PSI, PromoTex Expo and viscom will give the initial spark for a new start from January 12 to 14, 2021. They take place directly at the beginning of the year as planned.

“After the lockdown, the economy urgently needs sales outlets for their products. Trade fairs are one of the fastest tools for economic recovery and can be a signal for a new start, ”says Petra Lassahn, director of the three trade fairs at the trade fair organizer Reed Exhibitions. Together, PSI, PromoTex Expo and viscom represent the entire world of advertising and sales. Due to the close networking of neighboring branches of industry, they provide great appeal within the branch and beyond. "Especially in the network, the trade fairs can give the urgently needed impulses for the revitalization of the branches in the short and medium term."
Comprehensive health protection
After the PSI network has campaigned politically for the interests of its market participants in the past few months, but also by providing its own services free of charge, preparations for the design of the trade fairs in January are now entering the decisive phase. "Together with the representatives of the responsible authorities and those responsible for Messe Düsseldorf, we are developing a detailed hygiene and safety concept that will protect everyone involved during the fair from a possible risk of infection," emphasizes Lassahn.
New structures, more security and the greatest possible flexibility
In order to ensure security in January, the three trade fairs are given a new structure. In four halls, the focus topics product sourcing, sustainability, technology and community are increasingly the focus. Transparent visitor guidance and the staging of exhibitors and the trade fair are central components of the planning. "Because something can change every day, we also have to work very flexibly," confirms Michael Freter, Managing Director of PSI and Reed Exhibitions Germany.
PromoTex Expo focuses on sustainability
In addition to a new hygiene and safety concept, there are other adjustments to the trade fair planning. The PromoTex Expo is getting closer to PSI. Exhibitors from the textile sector can be found in all four exhibition halls in 2021. "We want to encourage them wherever there are synergies," says Petra Lassahn. “This is what the three trade fairs in the world of advertising and sales represent. We are placing the focus of the textile fair even more on the topic of sustainability, because this is its unique selling point in comparison to other textile events and has already received a lot of attention and appeal in 2020 - among other things through the cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and their new certification: the "green button".
A second part of the PromoTex Expo moves to Hall 12, where viscom also takes place. An optimized planning concept reinforces the synergies between the trade fairs and brings them closer together, while maintaining their independence. The participatory character is not only retained by viscom, but is being expanded even more under the motto “do something out of it”. Advertising technicians and all visitors are invited to deal with materials and machines, get answers to their questions, have the opportunity to discuss and try out new things at different stations. The focus remains on the workshop, an extensive material show complements the offer and experts answer technical questions about machines and software.
Homecoming for PSI members
There are special services for PSI members. The PSI Members Only Lounge serves again as a retreat. Not only are all PSI service departments represented there. After an extraordinary year, the PSI family can also meet again here and network. Because in 2021 the motto is "Coming Home". Other visitor magnets are the GUSTO area with numerous taste samples that melt on the tongue with effective advertising and the product presentations that bring visitors new products and bestsellers in the industry.
