Canon at FESPA 2023: Going 'BIG' with brand new technologies

When Fespa opens its doors in Munich on 23 May, Canon will be there with its latest developments. The focus at this year's Global Print Expo will be on the recently launched Canon Colorado M web presses, a new Arizona flatbed press with also a new software suite, and the imagePROGRAF GP 4000 R2R systems. Many of the point of sale applications, interior decorations and personalised packaging that can be produced with these as a priority will be created "live and in colour" on site at the exhibition stand in Hall B2, Stand B10.

- Make it Big - Make it Grow - Make it Eyecatching - Make it Smart
- Canon inspires with new technologies
- Live production Colorado M with FLXfinish+ and white print
- Live production with new Arizona model
- Live production with imagePROGRAF GP-4000
The Canon stand simulates a retail and hospitality environment, demonstrating the creative and commercial possibilities of a wide range of wide-format graphics including interiors and packaging printing. A tour of the 'retail shops' will showcase authentic print applications ranging from promotional graphics, effective wayfinding and signage to decoration and packaging. These are what create the right ambience in the shop and the all-important inspiring customer experience.
Canon will be introducing a new member of its Arizona flatbed printer family. This new productive, versatile, accurate and highly efficient true flatbed printer will be seen in action. A wide range of rigid and flexible substrates, including more demanding media such as board, wood or glass - ideal for retail or hospitality applications - can be printed on with the system. Also newly unveiled is another innovation for the Arizona printer range as part of the PRISMA XL Suite workflow software.
The recently launched Colorado M-Series, the latest addition to the award-winning Colorado family, will make its live European debut, demonstrating to print service providers and printers the benefits of its modularity and upgradeability in the field. The unique FLXfinish+ technology and new white ink option will demonstrate the wide range of applications that can be printed with the Colorado system - from bright and bold wallpapers to window graphics and eye-catching front and backlit signs. Demonstrations of all systems will be available in English and German.
Given the continued importance and growth of the digital wallpaper market, the 'UVgel Wallpaper Factory' will demonstrate how large quantities of wallpaper can be printed around the clock and unattended. This end-to-end solution, which can be seen on the Canon stand and the adjacent Fotoba stand, will demonstrate the capabilities of the Colorado M-Series in conjunction with Fotoba's jumbo roll feeder, cutter and rewinder to produce a variety of curated wall coverings. Also on the Fotoba stand will be the 'UVgel Print Factory', the jumbo-to-jumbo roll solution for the fully automated production of high-volume UVgel applications.
Showcasing the photographic quality of this range, the 44-inch imagePROGRAF GP-4000 printer brings campaign images to life with stunning print quality and a wide colour gamut. The imagePROGRAF GP-4000 prints in eleven colours, including fluorescent pink, to create striking gradients from pastels to neons. It is also PANTONE™ calibrated, making it perfect for printing branded colour graphics applications such as posters and point-of-sale materials.
Under the overarching theme of "Make It BIG", suppliers and designers of large format graphics will showcase inspiring and sustainably impressive work. Under the heading "Make it Grow" it will be shown how creative and production boundaries can be crossed and thus create the opportunity for more growth for print service providers.
The motto "Make It Eye-Catching" is about using attention-grabbing print products to draw the interest of consumers and ultimately boost sales.
Last but not least, "Make it Smart" is about end-to-end automation and workflow tools that make production more efficient and cost-effective.
Looking ahead to FESPA 2023, Patrick Bischoff, Director Strategy & Marketing at Canon Germany, says.
"With the return to face-to-face events, conferences and trade shows, we see an increase in large format applications, from posters and wall coverings, but also a growing demand for soft signage, banners and pop-ups. Print service providers must be prepared to meet these demands with scalable technology and end-to-end automation to optimise performance and maximise opportunities for sustainable and profitable growth. With the breadth of our Canon portfolio, from flatbed, roll-to-roll and workflow solutions, and also with our new Colorado M-Series with a UV gel white ink option, we can help our customers unlock new opportunities in graphics, décor and packaging."
