Fi Europe & Ni: Exhibitors present new technologies for safety and quality

Expo FoodTec Pavilion as a contact point for tailor-made process and packaging solutions

Numerous suppliers of technologies and services for food processing and safety as well as supply chain management will be presenting their innovations to visitors to this year's Fi Europe & Ni. With the Expo FoodTec Pavilion, the world's leading trade fair for food ingredients from 3 to 5 December in Paris is an important source of inspiration and business platform for manufacturers of ingredients and end products. In addition, the organiser Fi Global, in cooperation with the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST), is offering a top-class conference programme: Within the framework of this "Expo FoodTec Hub", leading food technologists and association representatives from the entire industry will discuss the latest developments.
In the Expo FoodTec Pavilion, around 50 companies will present their broad range of technological products - from research and development, consulting, analysis and laboratory equipment to solutions for food safety, packaging and certification. Exhibitors include GEA (Denmark), Andritz Separation (Netherlands) and Boccard (France), the packaging supplier SpaceKraft (USA) and Armfield (UK), which manufactures R&D systems in miniature format. In addition, Fi Global and IUFoST are offering a free lecture program entitled "Current Challenges for Minimal Processing, Sustainability & Safety" on 3 and 4 December with experts from industry and science.
The following presentations will also provide an opportunity for further training:
- Clean Label Shelf-Life Management for High Quality and Safe Foods" by Joost Blankestijn, Program Manager, Wageningen Food & Biobased Research (3 December)
- Adding Value Through Transformational Quality & Food Safety Management" by Rob Kooijmans, co-founder and co-owner of FoodRecall.nl (3 December)

Awards for outstanding innovations
With the Fi Innovation Awards, Fi Global traditionally honours companies and professionals who make a decisive contribution to the further development of the entire food and beverage industry. As one of ten categories, the Food Tech Innovation Award honours outstanding solutions and services in the field of packaging and processing. Interested parties can submit their applications until 20 September.
Food safety: the consumer brings about change
With the Expo FoodTec theme pavilion, Fi Global offers a platform for new technologies with which manufacturers can meet the growing demands of consumers for food quality and safety. Today, food must be fresh, derived from sustainably produced ingredients and free of artificial preservatives. At the same time, consumers demand the highest level of convenience and long shelf life.
Joost Blankestijn, Speaker of the Expo FoodTec Hub, says: "Clean Label has become not only a trend, but mainstream and is often taken as standard. When it comes to reformulation, product developers are generally subject to the ever-changing wishes of consumers". Rob Kooijman, who will focus his presentation on food safety, adds: "In the next three to five years, companies will be forced to adopt a much more proactive approach to quality and safety. What is needed is a real culture of food safety, or better yet, a culture that generally relies on excellence".
The Expo FoodTec Pavilion offers solutions and concepts that can be easily implemented to meet these challenges.
