General-Anzeiger Bonn: Daily newspaper and website with the InterRed editorial system

The General-Anzeiger Bonn has successfully converted the production of its print and online media to the InterRed editorial system. Thanks to the close cooperation between the two companies, this was done within a very short time. Now the editorial production workflow, from planning to the finished product, is mapped with the new publishing solution, which has many advantages for the editorial team.

Nine local editions, print and digital, one multi-channel publishing solution
The editorial production workflow of General-Anzeiger is now mapped with the new publishing solution. From the creation of content, the entire image workflow with integrated digital asset management, the intelligent synchronization of content between the various media channels to the finished production and publication, multi-channel publishing with InterRed now forms the technological basis.
The introduction of the new software was accompanied by a relaunch of the website. The new design offers a clearer and slimmer layout, optimized loading times, larger photos and videos and is still responsive, which means that the content is displayed optimally in any screen size, whether on a smartphone, tablet or PC. In contrast to previous times, the new system no longer merely counteracts the one editorial deadline for the print edition, but also publishes new news and reports quickly and efficiently throughout.
Also in the print area, the editorial staff uses numerous integrated functions such as InterRed MediaSync for the intelligent synchronization of content between print and online when creating the total of 9 local editions of the daily newspaper. Thanks to InterRed LiveLayout, the creation, editing and layout of print pages and thus DTP elements is done directly in the browser.
Jacket pages for Kölnische Rundschau and fast project implementation
In addition to the various versions of the General-Anzeiger, the editorial office in Bonn also produces jacket pages for the daily newspaper Kölnische Rundschau. Thanks to the ten-year cooperation between the two companies, these print pages are now also produced with the InterRed editorial system and delivered to the Kölnische Rundschau.
The entire project for the introduction of the new publishing solution was completed in a very short time. Thus, the changeover of the print production to the InterRed editorial system took six weeks, and the website relaunch based on the new online CMS InterRed had already been carried out in advance.
Helge Matthiesen, editor-in-chief at the General-Anzeiger in Bonn: "The introduction of the InterRed editorial system is another important milestone in our cross-media transformation. With this type of multi-channel publishing, we want to put the editorial team in a position to cover all channels even better and from a single system in the future, thus securing an economic future for good journalism".
