WAS Germany creates IT platform for growth strategy
WAS Germany has been THE supplier for gastronomy, hotel and kitchen equipment for over 50 years. In the second generation, the owner-managed family business from Hamburg today supplies its customers worldwide with over 7,000 articles and the best service quality. Main distribution channel is still the catalogue, so far in 3 languages. An essential element of the future strategy of WAS is the development of new markets and the associated reorientation and broadening of the marketing and sales channels. In order to create the prerequisites for this, a new IT solution had to be found - a central, scalable system for efficient and automated product and marketing communication; and also a partner who supports WAS in the introduction, content creation and the use of the existing and new channels. The requirements for managing these processes require a close partnership with the customer and the numerous other partners, a sophisticated process landscape and an intelligent IT head system. In only 9 months, WAS, with the help of Meyle+Müller (M+M) and apollon, set up a central PIM (Product Information Management) system based on the Online Media Net (OMN) software suite. An essential part of the system solution was the interface to the new ERP system (MS Dynamics). In addition, all product data was restructured and imported into OMN - and at the same time localized and prepared for many new markets outside Europe and South America. In parallel, M+M organized the photography of the new products as well as the translation management for 19 languages and the conception and subsequent automated creation of the new catalog including the complete print production. With the going live of the new online shop, which is realized by apollon on the basis of shopware, WAS can take another important step this year to serve its existing as well as new customers perfectly - according to the motto of WAS: "WHERE SERVICE BEGINS".
