Pioneer in the print and media industry: Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG optimises digitalisation strategy

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) is further expanding its pioneer status in B2B e-commerce with the migration of its online shops to the Salesforce B2B Commerce Cloud together with implementation partner dotSource. The new shop is being rolled out in 36 countries and offers discerning customers a shopping experience they are accustomed to in everyday B2C without sacrificing complexity.

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) is a reliable partner with a high level of innovation for the global printing industry. With its technology leadership in its core business and focus on digitising the entire value chain, the company serves a market with an annual print production volume of almost €400 billion in packaging, advertising and label printing.

Since 2018, the team of the Heidelberg Digital Unit has been continuously expanding the e-commerce presence, activities and digital marketing of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG in a future-oriented manner. In the tradition-rich printing industry, the company is thus acting as a pioneer with its B2B online shop.
HEIDELBERG and dotSource: The perfect mix of pioneering spirit and digital expertise

In the B2B segment, too, customers now expect digital availability and a user-friendly purchasing experience. At the same time, products and components in the B2B sector are much more complex, which places correspondingly high demands on the respective e-commerce systems. In the case of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, dotSource supported the stabilisation and standardisation of their modern B2B platform: thanks to the migration to the Salesforce B2B Commerce Cloud, HEIDELBERG's 36 international online shops can now be hosted via a uniform system, while still allowing the individual country subsidiaries to manage and configure the individual shops. The e-commerce tool fits perfectly into the existing structures from Salesforce - for example the Salesforce Service Cloud as a customer relationship management system - and thus offers HEIDELBERG a 360-degree customer view.
New level in B2B e-commerce at HEIDELBERG

The high-quality B2B shop is optimally linked to a PIM system previously implemented by dotSource. The information on the individual products can thus be directly imported into the extensive Salesforce features for product presentation. Thanks to the single sign-on function, high-performance search function and intuitive UX design in the look of the HEIDELBERG website, the result is a seamless customer journey that is otherwise only offered by modern B2C shops.

In this way, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG underpins its pioneering role in the print and media industry and prepares itself for the digital future in the B2B sector: after the roll-out of all international country shops, HEIDELBERG would like to expand its portfolio to include apps and licences for digital services, which can also be sold via the new shop.
