Thinfilm Begins Delivery of NFC OpenSense to Key Customers

Tag Conversion and Commercial Application of Labels Now Underway; Pilot-Order Deliveries to Continue In Q1 2016

Film Electronics ASA (“Thinfilm”) (OSE: THIN.OL; OTCQX: TFECY), a global leader in printed electronics and smart systems, today announced that the Company has started delivering NFC OpenSense™ tags to lead customers for conversion and application to bottles and medical devices. The deliveries, which are connected to orders received earlier this year, mark a critical milestone in the roadmap for the commercial launch of NFC OpenSense and demonstrate Thinfilm’s ability and commitment to produce leading-edge “smart packaging” solutions for its clients.

“The start of deliveries on these pilot orders is a significant accomplishment for Thinfilm and an important step in getting products containing NFC OpenSense to market.” said Davor Sutija, Chief Executive Officer for Thinfilm. “We expect to see NFC-enabled products with Thinfilm’s OpenSense technology reach market early in 2016.”

The launch of the Ferngrove “smart wine bottle” – the industry’s first intelligent wine bottle powered by printed electronics – in partnership with G World at Mobile World Congress ShanghaiThe receipt of a 5-figure unit order for NFC OpenSense tags from Diageo, the world’s largest spirits companyThe announcement by Ypsomed, a leading global developer and manufacturer of injection systems for self-medication, to incorporate NFC OpenSense into its YpsoMate® Smart autoinjector and name Thinfilm as a lead technology partner in its efforts to incorporate intelligence across its product lineThe launch by Xerox, Thinfilm’s manufacturing scale-up partner, of two new products featuring Thinfilm’s printed memory technology
