Direct to growth

By Axel Stuhlreiter,Head of Textile Solutions, Graphic Communications Group, Ricoh Europe

Capitalising on the growth opportunity for on demand Direct to Garment (DTG) production and exploring the new technologies driving creativity were among the main areas of interest for our worldwide visitors at this year’s virtual Innovate.

Attendees were keen to learn more about how they can support brand and buyer demand for cost effective, just in time, localised production.
They wanted to better understand the fresh, inspiring design capabilities the latest technology now makes possible.
They also reviewed ways they could further improve their sustainability.
Visitors were eager to discover more about our latest technologies designed to enable the affordable exploration of these new possibilities.
Systems that drive sustainable on demand textile production and solutions that support decentralised fulfilment operations and centralised online businesses.
They learned more about our newest announcements and developments for a DTG market that continues to show a steep recovery in the post-Covid economy including:
Our global partnership with aeoon Technologies. It combines Ricoh’s inkjet printhead development expertise and ColorGATE colour management capability and print data generation with the Austrian developer’s fast and reliable DTG digital print technology for higher productivity market segments in the worldwide industrial textile market.
Film Transfer printing capabilities on the Ri 1000 DTG printer via its new Print Mode ‘White after CMYK’. Retrofittable, the option complements the Print Mode ‘White Ink first’ for traditional DTG printing. The evolutionary process is fast and simple, completing highly creative results quickly and affordably. Using pre-printed designs, foiled images are added to pre-treated garments using heat transfer technology. Designs can be created and stored as Ready to Go transfer film for fast on a wide choice of materials.
DTG inks that are now Global Organic Textile Standard 6.0 (GOTS) compliant and meet worldwide recognised requirements for organic textiles, extending market application possibilities.
A tour of Ricoh’s Textile Competence Centre, Frankfurt Airport, that provides a demo space for Ricoh’s complete digital textile production portfolio and software solutions.
