Study by Smurfit Kappa: Conscious consumption forces companies to even more sustainability

Smurfit Kappa Bewusster KonsumA new study shows that sustainability is a key driver for companies. The "Balancing Sustainability and Profitability Study" was conducted among 200 executives and 1500 consumers in the UK before the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic. The study shows that increased conscious consumer behaviour is driving companies to integrate sustainability transparently into their business operations. However, with a new generation of consumers increasingly demanding greater transparency in the area of sustainable business, the study also shows that two-thirds of companies are finding it difficult to measure the impact of their sustainability strategies.

Henkel first company to conclude a plastic waste reduction bond

Henkel takes another step in combining attractive corporate financing instruments with progress in sustainability: As the first company globally, Henkel concluded a plastic waste reduction bond. The proceeds from this bond, a private placement with Japanese insurance companies Dai-ichi Life and Dai-ichi Frontier Life, will be specifically allocated to projects and expenditures related to Henkel’s activities to reduce plastic waste. The bond has a total volume of 70 million US dollars and a maturity of five years.
