Service provider expands Amdocs relationship with applications, billing operations and infrastructure support services contract, including Order-to-Activation
Amdocs (NASDAQ: DOX), the leading provider of customer experience solutions, today announced that U.S. Cellular, the fifth largest wireless carrier in the United States, has entered into an agreement with Amdocs to manage the operations of a range of its business and operational support systems (B/OSS). The five-year agreement covers key B/OSS areas including service activation, customer care and retail interaction, as well as billing for both business and retail customers.
Amdocs will provide 24/7 system support including tier 2 services and application support. Amdocs will also manage U.S. Cellular's billing operations for both pre- and postpaid customers, spanning 3G and 4G (LTE) networks in some 100 markets in North America.
"This agreement with Amdocs is expected to provide us with improved operating efficiencies as well as enhanced system support capabilities that further enable our goal of delivering a superior customer experience," said John Cregier, vice president of information technology at U.S. Cellular.
"This new agreement demonstrates our ability to deliver greater value to U.S. Cellular by assuming responsibility for managing and maintaining their B/OSS systems," said Eric Updyke, group president of systems integration and operations at Amdocs. "Having Amdocs manage these mission-critical applications in production, in addition to the development and testing services that Amdocs has been providing to U.S. Cellular to enable new business functionality, will help U.S. Cellular to extract the maximum value from their B/OSS systems in support of their customer-centric strategy."
Today's announcement comes four years after Amdocs announced that U.S. Cellular had selected the Amdocs CES product suite to transform its business. Amdocs has been delivering managed services to service providers around the world for 30 years, and today supports more than 500 million subscribers in a managed services model.
